tires

you guys think that 225/40/18 would fit on the rx8 the tire size on the rx8 is 225/45/18

this guy is wants to sell em to me cheap so im wondering if they would fit

Will they fit......yes........but they won't be as tall because there is a little bit less distance between the edge of the rim and the edge of the tire....all the way around......or about 1 inch less in overall diameter. The recommendation I've mainly heard is to stay within 3% of the stock size, so by my math......you are pushing that at around 3.4%.

My link was only posted so you could use the tools on there to see/learn how to figure all those numbers out.....and what they mean.

Check the "Will it fit section" in the wheels and tires section when you have a question about tires and fitment.

i have 225/40-18 cause they were free 90% tread yokos. Works fine. I autocross and daily. I've taken them 140mph with no problems... Actually now that i remember it would be 140mph minus about 3.5 %. Its harder to get speeding tickets cause your speedo is a little too high.

speedos will never be exact anyway. not as long as they take their data from tires that wear out and get smaller.

they need to start using GPS to give speed data and using the tires as a backup when the signal is lost.
