That sucks for anyone who is going to have their car taken away. However, they knew the risks when they cheated the system.
not to go off topic too far here... but we already had far superior planes. If you read up on the maintenance and issues with the coating on the F22 raptor, you'll see what I'm talking about. It gets pretty damn ridiculous. Also, calling it "defense" makes it sound nicer... I'd imagine that they mostly get offensive use. Following that logic, nuclear weapons are just really powerful defensive weapons.

I'll send the troops to Houston.

On the topic of Weapons, they are just that... Weapons. How you use them determines whether they are offensive or defensive.
On the topic of Skylines. Let them stay, I don't fully understand why they weren't allowed here anyway... Gov. Can spend money trackin down cars and Still can't find Bin Laden... pssh.

They're illegal for a few reasons I believe... I might be off on a couple though.

1. General customs and importation laws. These guys are finding loopholes which walk a fine line between legal and illegal... they know it and take the risk. I wish they were easier to import as well, but there does need to be some regulation

2. Emissions. While they might have passed other emissions tests, everyone likes to do their own tests which leads into number 3

3. Safety ratings. This is the one I know for sure. They want to have safety tests on the cars that are being imported. To do that, they have to do crash tests (not sure how many off the top of my head... but it would require them to crash multiple cars of the same model).

There are tons of cars that could easily meet the standards required and would be a lot of fun to import... but there are others that might not measure up. Unfortunately for us, the cars that dont measure up make it more difficult to import the good cars. Now, I do believe the laws could change to be a little more forgiving without sacrificing safety, but these guys know what the current laws are and are taking a risk. There's a few instances where I feel that something shouldn't be illegal and that people shouldn't have to suffer the consequences they do because of their actions... but the law is the law and if you decide to run the risk, dont act surprised or outraged when you get in trouble.

I was more referring to why they weren't produced over here to begin with. There is a whole 240 and Skyline segment that we missed out on and it sucks and i dont know why.

When I got my yamaha R1 stolen last year the cops didnt wanna bother to see the video I had from the security room of the guy stealing my bike...yet they put 2 jackasses right in front of my school for 5 hours everyday to catch struggling students doing 5miles over the speed limit to give them a ticket. U dont have time to help me get my property back because it doesnt create you a revenue but I supposed giving out speeding tickets will make the world a better place. The government is only there to enslave us. To steal from us.

Its the American way partner. IDK, i think its a bit ridiculous the resources being spent on **** like this when it could be used elsewhere. Yea some regulations have to be in place i get that, but really, how many people are actually trying to get a freakin Skyline imported? Not enough to remotely enlarge the carbon footprint we are already laying down. Let them be.

....and do you truly believe the Govt doesnt know where to find Bin Laden? I mean really?

Im telling u guys, its all about money.

the government knows that these people have money, so they will track them down hard, threat them to take the car away, then like "hey you know what, we will "KINDLY" settle this with you at the amount of $$$$$$"

People have R32-34 running in the states has to be Rich + they love cars. so yeah, they will pay up.

Just Watch.

Of course they know where he is, they might need to hire him to blow something up again.

I wouldn't doubt that this can be settled for a proper amount. My problem is the money being wasted on this to begin with.

It looks like these guys are doing VIN swaps to make a Skyline into something, isn't that almost like thieves stealing your car and turn it into another car?

its only busting on illegally imported cars, or ones that are not in compliance with the EPA or dep. of transportation (which these ones dont have to be exported, just not operated on public roads).

There are company's that import the vehicles for you legally because they have gone through the crash tests required by the US government for the specific vehicle, this however is a very costly thing to do upwards of 20,000 or more (these are the ones that have nothing to worry about and can be driven on the roadways) . Or if you are a licensed registered importer then you can import cars regardless of epa standards or dep. of transportation regulations (these are the ones not allowed on the roads).

Its the people that get them shipped here and swap the vin of a wrecked or salvaged nissan 240 and claim that they modified the car to appear as a skyline (these are the people who are getting themselves into trouble and have to worry about getting their cars exported)
