I know they finance, I don't know why I wrote that, I was just trying to convey the idea of uber richness :p Why not finance at 4-7% when you can make 10%+ on your money invested.

As for the maybach, I could never drive around in one of those things, I would feel hood rich. Driving myself around in a little limo, unable to enjoy all the luxo benifits.

It isn't about ROR. It's about not having the cash. There are many people making $500k salaries that live paycheck to paycheck.

Completely true about the "secret rich," and you can see from thoughts in this thread that society doesn't really like the guys with Maybachs, so some people who make millions drive an old Nova.

Anyways, I generally can't stand luxury status symbols of any kind. I can't see spending money on a personal limosine. I can see buying a Ferrari, but only if I would take it to tracks, really race it, and drive the hell out of it. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money for a fast car I could only go the speed limit in.

Very true, my father owns a real estate company and while I don't know what kind of money he makes per year I know what he makes on some homes... He's never bought me a car or any out of the ordinary gift, I get $50 for my birthday every year along with a nice dinner. He lives in a very nice home that he bought with my mother for 32k over 30 years ago. Sure it's worth several hundred thousand now, but it's not like it was an extravagant purchase at the time.

I went with him to the autoshow last year to look for a new car. He was trying to decide between the TL, Magnum, and the 300C (got the Magnum RT). I was pushing towards a E55 AMG or 7 Series BMW. He just kept talking about how they were too much money and he didn't need all that in a car... So I'm thinking at the time maybe he's not doing as well as I thought.

I was talking to my sister lastweek and found out he bought two more lakefront houses to rent out as investments, making his total homes owner around a dozen. I joked about how I'm worried about having one mortgage and it must be tough just to keep track of all those mortgages. She kind of laughed and told me he payed cash He's buying homes that cost at least a couple hundred thousand each with cash, he could be driving any car he wants, and he drives a Dodge.

I would venture to say the majority of people driving around in the super expensive cars are living month to month or week to week just like a lot of us are. They're just living those months and weeks a little better than we are

I could not agree with you more on that. I know a older man who owns a $700,000 House and Clarksville Maryland and although his house is big, he still runs around in cut up clothes and drives a old 89 Lincoln. I guess just as long as your happy, that's all that matters! There are so many people that live pay check to pay check.

A good axiom is: Poor people pay interest while wealthy people collect interest.

Also, your father is driving the car he wants. That's why he bought it. No matter if he could afford to spend more.

as far as the comments on it being automatic, this is true and I dont like it, but having driven one (god I love being a valet) even just around the block to our lot, it has so much power that youll forget about it being auto. Im not a huge fan of the car, but I like the doors, and the engine note is awsome! Its not a track day car, its more of a 'look at me im rich' car that you would cruise around in with a super model, zipping around europe

Like the diffuser, and air brake
Hate the obsolete powertrain. Where is the 7g-tronic? Where is the flat plane crank V8 (especially with the front mounted unequalized dual exhaust)? 3 valves per cylinder.
Maybe McLaren will supercharge the new 500hp V8 for 750 hp or something.

if you think the car is nice you should visit wheres its made in the UK.......an amazing place!

funny story about that car, a few months back now one of the dealers who works for my dad decided he wanted on and ordered it when the rumours started, anyway as they are all flashy city Dealers theres a tradition of having the car delivered in to the large court yard of there building

so the week its delievered a Lambo Monte also arrives for the same group of Dealers so its looking good! But as there are taking the Merc of the lorry the dip **** delievery guy clips one of the alloys! the dealer goes down and say 'i want that replaced NOW!' as you say this is a quater of a mill car so they load it back up and drive off ...next day it comes back fine!

anyway a week later i was out havigna few beers with my dad in the city when one of the energy traders from the other side of the court yards come over as says 'Bloody hell what are you lot going over there? in the last week i ahve seen a Lambo and 2 McClarens being delievered! any chance of a job?'

we did not have the heart to say i was just to one car! was very funny to see his face!

one day i will get a job there and get me a super car!!!!! til then i am happy being taken out on the odd spin and dreaming!

Our clients include wealthiest of them all. Its safe to say you all hit it on the head. The super rich...the wealthiest....dont pay interest. They hardly pay for anything, its *** backwards.

Most of the richest who own thier own $45 million jets or do fractional ownership or even charter dont even pay for it in the end....it all gets written off. They fly around in aircraft with operating costs of $4500+ an hour for free.

One of our base clients is in the Fortune 100. He drives daily either a SC or a BMW 745. Thats pretty much standard for the ultra wealthy, 55AMG included. Its the not as wealthy that drive around in the maybach, or the ferraris, or the lambos. They are usually jerks too. Its the wealthiest who usually are friendly and not pushy.

:D Damn I think you have been watching too many Seinfeld episodes. A write off means you can deduct the expense from your income used to calculate taxes. Just like mortgage interest and property taxes. It does not mean anything came free.

Is that a small jet? If so, I take it you mean TMac has fractional ownership. Anyways, he does not live in my building anymore.

Right i understand that......but you recieve the money baack.

EDIT: I misread what you wrote. Most of them write it off as BUSINESS expenses....in fact many of them create "companies" that include thier aircraft and thats it......John Travolta is a famous example of that.

A client of ours owns a bunch of car dealerships down here. He told us after 2 years of flying on a fractional he winds up receiving ALL his money back so flying him and his family around is free.

I couldnt tell you exactly how though, I'm not all that learned in that area.

Its a NICE corporate/private jet...can seat about 12, depends on the configuration. And no I'm pretty sure its not fractional....it say T1MAC on the side in huge letters as if it was T1MAC airlines Most sports stars fly charter...but charters dont personalize aircraft to that degree.

EDIT:I found a picture of it. That was during a test flight before it was delivered (hence the french tail number) You can see the U.S. tail number covered up on the tail.
