He has an AEM Intake and 19's though so I think if he was stock we would be neck and neck. We also have switched cars and usually the results are the same. But it is definately a drivers race on the course or on the drag strip. They are nice but I would only have a hard top. IMO though, something is just kind of gay about verts.

My 8 was a little quicker out of the corner in 2nd (this is where the LW fly really helps) but after that - nothing in it .
I know my mods would have helped so if he was stock I would have to say he would beat a stock RX8 .

I think this would be a close one, so.....apart from the obvious more practicality of the rx-8(4 seats, and a decent trunk) there is not much difference between the car
The 8 got more handling, but the s2k got more power under it's hood,
the s2k is also a convertible,
so what do you guys think, close one?

Skythe,
He has the 19's and an intake. I just have a K&N drop in.
The 19's, depending on tire profile, may be hurting his acceleration.
I personally love the s2000, I love everything about it. When I purchased my rx8, however, my mind was on carrying others and insurance. Had my mind been on fun (I wish it would have) I would be driving a gpw/tan s2000 :'(
Ohz Wellz, rotary ftw

LOL! You're looking too hard. Mugatu meant to just do a search on the topic.

I've driven both.
I say that stock vs. stock
RX-8 wins.
Why?
Because its practical, at the same time handles, performers and stops very good.
The S2000 is a faster and handles a tad bit better, but the RX8 is like 98% of the S2K in terms of performance, but has 2more seats and a better sound system, while being more practical with more features.
Only problem with our cars is that they suck gas and drain oil.
A problem with the S2K if you ignore practicality is that you have to be in VTEC to experience power or its like a civic with the top off.

Gawd, why is there this incredible need on this forum to compare the S2000 to the RX-8 every few weeks?
Let's see; one's a four door, four seat coupe. The other's a two-seat roadster, and 200 pounds lighter.
The RX-8 is B Stock in autocross, while the S2000 is A Stock. The S2000 outhandles and outaccelerates the RX-8. Not by a lot in absolute terms, but by a decisive amount in any race (drag, autocross or road racing), drivers being equal, stock for stock.
The S2000 is much cheaper to operate; it's at least as reliable, and gets much better gas mileage.
It's hard to put the top down on an RX-8; it's hard to get three or four people into an S2000.
Which is "better" kind of depends on what's important to you.

Good point. But you know what I observed today? My friends S2000 sounds annoying. I guess I have been away from VTEC too long. I have heard some sick S2000's but stock it sounds...... Rough? I can't really explain it but it does sound really loud and crazy for a stock car. But then againit is a 2.0 four banger pushing 240HP. I still cannot get over that for a NA four banger stock. Oh, and my 8 feels like I'm sitting in a lazy boy after riding around in the S2000 for a coupleof hours.
