well still not dice...i can't seem to make it out to the dealership to get in a test drive. not even sure if they still have one there. i might end up waiting till monday and i have the 8 back to stock.

and i would probably go the way of HPA motorsports. i coucd care less about a viper or C6 for the same price...i would have a 500hp golf...like i said i am looking into uniqueness too.

I've been cosidering the same change as you. I love my RX-8 but it's got two glaring faults that will likely convince me to sell it. First, the gas mileage is bothersome. I don't really care that it gets low gas mileage, I just don't like having to fill up every 200 miles. I'd be perfectly happy with the same gas mileage but with a bigger gas tank. Second, the front seats in the RX-8 are horrible. Yes they are comfortable for normal people, but my wife's head is about the same height as those plastic triangles. Needless to say the seats are very uncomfortable for her. So I've been wrestling with the idea to sell my 8 and get something different. I've yet to drive one, but I think the R32 is right at the top of my list. I love the interior and praticality it would provide. I miss AWD and having a hatch that allows me to occasionally hall larger items. I used to have an AWD turbo Eagle Talon. Great car, but had a very cheap feel to it. I think the R32 would bring similar enjoyment and practicality while feeling like a much nicer higher quality vehicle. Anyways that's my two cents worth.

^^^ If you really want the R32 get it, but you know they sell aftermarket seats right? Probably alot cheaper than trading in negative equity on a car with similar performance numbers as the car you already have....plus the R32 will always look like a Golf economy car...

Another thing to remember is that the new Golf is coming out this year. Totally redesigned. It might sound superficial, but if you buy the R32, you're gonna look dated by the end of the year.

Hmm. I see R32's all over the place in Houston. Trust me, I can spot them, and they're all driven by fat guys with spiked hair.

I'll admit the R32 is pretty cool, however there are much better cars you can get, like the EVO MR. I've been ranting about how much this car rules since Mitsubishi took a car that already had *****, and made it better. Would I buy an MR, or an R32? No. My next car will probably be an old 911 "beater".

Topgear just had a review on the new golf (not the r32)..it was very favorable. They loved it, but did point out its a fat bloated pig of a car. (Teh Hvy).

Its in this weeks episode, check it out if you want.

Third Reich origins? That was many years ago. That's like saying "I'm not going to buy a Mazda because it was made by Kamikaze pilots." Just because you drive a New Beetle doesn't mean you're anti-Semitic.

Good luck with your purchase Mr. Ed's rx-8.

When I used to live in a upscale Jewish neighborhood, some people felt really strongly about not buying German cars. Others didn't care. I guess that's their right though Just thought I'd share why some people feel that way.

actually comparing it to 'Kamikaze pilots' is way off...

Volkswagen (car of the people) which was dreamed up by hitler was designed as the Car of 'Hitler's People' the new Aryan race he was designing

In addition Hitler gave Volkswagen slaver labor to build military systems, slave labor as in Jews (probably included other minority groups as well)...over 17,000 Jews, the only reason why Volkswagen is as big as it is today is because it was built up on free labor by Jews, worst part is when a Jew was not performing well at the factory the SS would simply kill the person and a new Jew would be pulled from a concentration camp to take their place.

Then after the war they did nothing as compensation...not that lives can be compensated for

I could keep going but it just gets worse...and I'm in a good mood today I don't want to get depressed describing it to you.

These things can't be changed, to stay away from a car company for those reasons, to me, is childish. I forget which aspirin company it is, bayer maybe? I believe they used to be called IG Farben or something like that and they made the gas the Germans used to kill Jews with in the showers of the camps. Many don't know this, but buy it anyway. I'm sure there are many companies like this that have done bad things in the past, but none of them(for the most part) do anything remotely similar to this now. Do you hate white people because they enslaved blacks 150 years ago?

Actually, it would be far more accurate to say it was made by atomic bomb survivors.

(There used to be a better history at the Mazda Japan web site, but it's gone.)
