Latest October Issue of WHEELS Mag here has a 2 pager on the New 6.

As we know it is wider and longer, the biggest change is in the wheelbase, up 50mm. Overall length up 35mm, 25 for the wagon. Width by 15mm, and height 5mm (40mm for the wagon). Weight has been reduced by 35kg (75lbs).
Keeping in mind that there is a lot more extra equipment/features added over the old model.

Old 2.3 MZR is discontinued, new larger 2.5 litre, with larger bore and stroke.
With a fuel consumption improvement of 6% over 2.3.
6 speed manual and 6 speed auto from the CX-7.
No diesel until middle of next year 2008, thought to be a 2.0 Litre Turbo.
But a 2.2 litre soon, Mazda Australia is going to wait for the 2.2.

And yes you guys get the "super sized" larger Mazda 6 with V6 "option", due for second half of 2008.

I wrote in the "Renesis 2" thread that the weight loss would probably be around 60 lbs. In contrast, a lot of people were and still are citing crazy unrealistic weight loss numbers for both the new Mazda 6 and new rotary.

So the first of my predictions has come true.

Who knows if a weight loss will be achieved on the US market 6 at all since it is going to be larger.

This design works so well on the 6, but not so much on the 8. It is so strange how I can hate the 8, but love the 6.
I always thought the 6 was an atractive car, but now it looks like a sexy model.

That's a very sweet machine. I definitely like the looks more then my Speed 6. It does make my mouth water though when I imagine the next Mazdaspeed 6, because the top of line regular 6 coming up will have similiar power to the current Speed 6. Are we looking at 330+hp on the next Speed 6?

We shall see.
