Im on the lookout for a 12" wide 18" rim that fits our 5 lug pattern. Hopfully looking as much like the fronts but beggers cant be choosers.

in a hot rod mag i have they show this guys rat rod and rat bike. he owns a rim company and he had matching rims for the bike and car. only thing is that its a single sided swing arm. i think thats the only way you you could get all 3 looking the same or if you have the cash get a custom rim made.

i dont know if this would work but could you just buy the rim that matches the front and have some thing machined so you could use it on the rear. i was thinking it would be 2 parts one on each side of the rim.they would have the same bolt patten as the riim, one would be threaded. i have a idea in my head and cant explain that great sorry. the only draw back to this is on one side the rim wouldnt look good.

if your really worried about looks you could always get one of those rims that doesnt have spokes or any thing. its just a sheet of clear plastic that acts as the spokes. ive seen them on high end custom street bikes. but i bet they would cost way to much.

this thing is so cool. i wish i had the cash, know how to build one with my motor from the sa i have. yeah i could make one but it wouldnt be safe.

i tried to find trike kits that use a car rear end with no luck

Thanks for the impute. I looked into a blank wheel for a bike and I was looking at $1500. The plan is to just find a 12" wide rim and build a car hub into the section then add the sprocket section. Im not trying to add a brake to the back yet, im sure the front will have enough brake, ill add that later.

Funny, Cams already talking about a turbo. Keep in mind the motor that im using in it was built for a turbo single rotor 1st gen, he put down 210 WHP and I think he said 110 ft/lb of TQ at 11k with a carb. Think what its gona do with rennissis parts and a Pettit blower tackin 13k. Im sure the drivetrain isnt going to drain all that much power (I hope the tranny sticks togeather) so we might see higher numbers to the wheel, any thoughts???

the trans and diff off the gullwing would take the hp? Plus it has reverse.
12 inch wheels on the old lamboginis
But HRE has an 18x12 wheel now that is not magnesium.
Put a brake on the back--you will wish you had.
Think it would be more fun if it was an automatic?

looks like the thing to do is to make a drive hub with a sprocket attached?
DO a belt drive also--much more quiet and less messy.

Thats just sick, I could get into to that, I like it alot. Wonder what it tips the scales at.

If you look at the last set of pictures I posted youl see a aftermarket Harley tranny im told will handle anything I can throw at it. I shoulda thought about a goldwing but it slipped my mind in the madness of designing what I have sofar. Im waiting to get the front assembly and clutch pack to finish the setup of the subframe. Im still trying to figure out some bolting points and im starting on the flanges and tranny mount next week. Im planning on using a belt drive from the engine to the tranny, I need to mate the belt drive pully to the crank on the engine, thats going to be fun. Im going chain the rst of the way so I can find the gearing needed, then ill probly go belt. Another thought, how light would the flywheel be, if I even need one. The starter bolts to the tranny wich might acualy be all the flywheel I need. I also have counterwieghts but there not that big.

make it a pull start----------------------Lol---but you actually could--being a one rotor and all.
WHAT FLYWHEEL--who needs a stinking flywheel! But a good clutch will be needed!
Look into some software front suspension programs to get your angles etc right--bumpsteer etc is a bitch once there.
are you going to use any rake at all---dont want the front light at speed?

I just found this thread and subscribed. Awesome stuff man! It's great to see guys trying all these new ideas. Have you thought about talking to the people at Campagna? They build the T-Rex and Cirbin trikes. I've dealt with them before and they are great people. Possibly some cool ideas?

Well, I thought id dive in as fast as I could, once I got that tranny it was all over. Now I have to sell some stuff and get the clutch assembly. This is turning into a big waiting game, I wish I could finish it faster.

Im working on a fast release of the rear axel, I think I figured it out. Theres nuthing worse then having to take everything appart to change a tire. Im simplifying it as much as I can and still keeping in mind strenth and durability.

This thing is nuts. I just canobolised my quad again this time I went for the rear axle. I scored a sprocket mount thats deffinatly strong enough. A disc mount that I have 11" floating discs for with 4 piston caliper that came off the street bike. Life is good.

Well, this past week I traded in the left hand drive tranny on a right hand drive. I picked up all the rest of the drivetrain such as the clutch and a 18/10" rim and the tire is a 295 that fits. Ive designed and scrapped 5 or 6 different swing arms and finaly narrowed it down. Ow, almost forgot, im going with a 1 1/2" belt to the rear. We dont need no stinking sprockets, except motor to tranny. Thats getting a double chain set of sprockets. This should be a rolling chassis buy sunday.

Yeh, another option im looking at is a cluthless settup that replaces the clutch pack bolt on. Im going with the clutch for now but its an option for production.
