Congrats! Contrary to what some feel, i really like the looks of the new Evo. Yeah im sure ur looking at alot more power with a good tune and opening her up a bit.

Is it the twin clutch SST automated manual or standard stick? Im partial to the old school stick but i have heard that twin clutch auto version is freakin badass. If it is the twin clutch, how does it feel??

The EvoX is on my short list for my next car, along with the 135i (or tii) or 335xi.

I've read that the Evo's power is 'peaky'...that you really need to rev it to make it do its thing.

Is this what you've found, or do you perceive ample torque down low (2k rpms)?

Subjectively, how would you compare it with a turbocharged RX-8?

This car is the standard 5Spd. There will not be a manual 6sp , but instead a 6sp SST (Auto), which will only be in the MR edition. I prefer shifting myself anyways. The car has gobs of torque, you can feel it "pull" you from 2k. I got the factory reflash today (Which adds 15 WHP to the car and makes the power more linear) and man the car PULLS. It is not peaky in terms of power is only existent at a later RPM, but it is peaky as in power goes all the way to7500 RPMs.
The Evo X does not disappoint, and will not disappoint anyone after they try some corners.

agreed. He has not answered the question "Price?". It is starting to feel a little suspicious...well...ok maybe not that far, but it's frustrating. haha.

He obviously paid around $30k plus for it.

I can see how you would appreciate the additional power and torque compared to the Rx-8, but I really hope you didn't get this car because you wanted something more reliable/less hassle than an '8--or something with less depreciation. Especially since Mitsubishi may be out of business within the next 5-10 years in this country unless they can come up with a car that people will actually buy beyond niche cars like the Evo.

Sorry I was just glancing when I read the posts
I bought it for 31000, not OTD though.
Also I dont see how not posting the price right away is considered being "ignorant" lol. You not searching for the price around your area for the Evo X is being lazy and somewhat ignorant, So Cal has the best deals for the Evo BTW, anywhere in the East Coast gives marked up prices so don't even bother trying to by one out there.

I did not buy it for reliability or anything to make my life easier, I bought it for whats its meant to do, track domination and easy on demand power.

No kidding?

Invoice on a bone-stock Evo is $31.7k & MSRP is $33.6...did you get it for less than that? Where are you in California? What dealer?

Mitsubishi is doing just fine and many of their cars are doing pretty well and are more competitive in their class than the cars from a few short years ago. So far this year their volume cars like the Lancer and Galant are up over 25% compared to last year and overall sales are up around 15%. There aren't many car companies posting those kind of increases. Mitsubishi is also a very diverse company with money coming in from everything from aerospace, consumer electronics, banking, construction, textiles, etc. MHI alone has profits around half a billion a year and I don't think that includes their banking institutions.

The Evo 8 and 9 have some of the best resale values of any cars on the road, the Evo X probably won't be any different and will almost certainly hold it's resale value better than an RX-8. They're also pretty realiable for the performance they offer, though neither the RX-8 or Evo are going to be a model of reliability. But reliability isn't why someone buys an Evo. People buy the Evo because they want the best performance for their dollar.

I don't know where you live, but one of the 2 local Mitsubishi dealerships around here (Raleigh NC, the 2nd biggest metro area in NC) just closed. The one Mitsu dealership that's still around hardly even sells Mitsubishis now. Half the cars on the lot are random used cars that aren't Mitsubishi at all.

And as far as sales increases... well if you aren't selling many cars, it doesn't take much to increase 15%. These days I don't even see 4th gen Eclipses around hardly at all... I see way more C6 Corvettes and they cost 15k+ more. And Eclipses are probably the best known and one of the best selling models Mitsu has had in this country.

None of that is very relevent to the strengths of the Evo 10 though, which is definately a good performance car. You're better off getting a brand new one than a ragged out Evo 8 that has been beat on by idiots. I don't know if I could ever buy a used Evo unless I was positive it was never modded or driven hard. I've seen so many Mitsubishis go to **** (and yes I know that they are not all assembled in the same place, some in the US and some in Japan), not that Mazdas are much better really.

Evo 8's and 9's are still sought after because of the legendary 4g63 engine, and some people prefer the look of the older better. If you can find a low mileage 8 or 9 then Im sure it would be okay to purchase it, Evo's are extremely tough cars.
Look at how many different companies Mitsubishi owns! http://www.mitsubishi.com/php/users/...rch.php?lang=1

If you look on Cars.com, some of the SoCal dealers are very aggressive on the new EVO. Slow economy, high priced car. Somethings gotta give.

Got to see one in action yesterday at Road America. This guy runs Redline Time attack, the car is 4 months old and was already stripped. No back seats, replaced stock front seats with racing seats, replaced stock exhaust with a home made unit and put in a larger IC from AMS. The car looked nice and handled great from what I can see from the various corners. He said that he's 5 MPH slower on the front straight then he was with his EVO IX. It looked like he held his own but was still no match for the Mustangs and Z06's. All in all a great looking and handling car. As a side note I also saw a kid wreck his EVO IX or VIII, I mean totally wrecked it. He was driving way to fast for his ability's. I can say that because I was gaining on him, there is no way I should be closing on a driver of equal skill level in an EVO. We were running in the Intermediate group, later I found out that it was his first time on the track. He just thought his car was to fast for novice so he lied on his registration form. I'll post pics once I down load them from my camera.

Have to say that the new look of the Evo X is quite tempting and a much needed improvement over the "old ugly as sin" Evos.

Congrats on the new Evo. I think they're much better than the old "Econo box with a ton of go faster parts bolted on" look of the IX. It's finally starting to mature into a good solid chassis and a more complete package like the 8 is.

Good job.

South coast Mitsu will sell you one for $1,500 below invoice. You can have it shipped all the way to the east coast for around $500.

If I were interested it's what I'd do.

Car is nice and all but...I hate that it looks almost identical to the regular lancer meaning people will see you and not even know if its the cheap version with a couple of parts on it. I also dislike the cheap look of the interiors, they are really bland and look like a rental car, just like the regular cheap lancer.

The car is fast and everything, it just doesnt rock my boat.

The new EVO X's interior is a huge improvement over the tupperware inspired interior of the previous EVO. At least now, the price is justifiable. Any top-line cars are always derived from its humbler siblings. STi, Mazdapeed3, M3 etc....
