I actually liked the last gen STi look the best out of all the other generations so far -- the in-your-face headlights and distinctive taillights gave it a menacing presence. I hate the way Subaru is "sleeking out" the headlights and overall body shape, and if people keep complaining about the STi being "ugly" and that it should "look better" I believe Subaru will misinterpret "look better" as being more sleek instead of being a more beautiful beast, as I see the trend going now.
If they're going to make it look 'beastly' with bulges and sharp edges , then at least don't make it fugly, which is something that's probably hard to do. It wouldn't hurt to hire some designers, or replace their current ones.

The look of the latest STi isn't bad on the front, but could use a lot of work on the rest of the body, imo. Just lose the econobox look.

altho the new STi looks like a Yaris X GD8 STi to me. but I think its still good looking

and Im sure this new chassis will be even stronger than the old one, cuz the old one is base on some 10 yr old technology. and better engine room, etc.

that front to the evo 10 is ridiculous, i don't think that big of front isnt needed anyway as the crash bar will block half the intake anyway. But its a prototype so they can get away with it.

No one in this thread knows what the new STI looks like... So why keep critiqueing something you've never seen?

When people are saying stuff like "it's still ugly" in refernce to a car that doesn't exist, yes.

Ike, I think some of the people here are finally playing you like a fiddle. They've found your sensitive spot perhaps.

I think it's cute and mean and the same time personally; this image presented in this thread anyhow.

Paul.

If it were that devious I could appreciate it. Sadly, it's simply just people commenting without reading the thread.

If they end up making a Limited Edition STi like the 800 they made for 2007 it will be my next car.

Can you say Wolf in sheeps clothing?

The days of an STI, no matter what it looks like, being a sleeper are long gone.

That pic looks like absolute crap. There were rumors of either the sti being a hatchback or having hatch version. God i hope not, hatchbacks are awful.

My bad for not calling it an image or rendering instead of a photo, but I that wasn't the point.

Personally, I think it looks better than the previous or current STI. More importantly, the hatch configuration first announced a couple years back looks like it's happening (though we probably wont get the 2-door version in the USA). I hope they can also get the weight down a bit.

If it comes with a higher roof, larger spoilers, wider seats, bigger wheels, 3 sun roofs, 5 cats, 11 airbags, 21 cup holders and 481 electric motors I doubt the new version will be any lighter. How many cars were actually lighter than their predecessor? MR 2?

A while back, there were rumors that the next generation STI would be a smaller, lighter 2-door hatch. Since then, it's been speculated that we won't get the 2-door hatch version in the USA, but I'm still hoping for some weight savings.

Outta the 2 the Evo is the better looking car hands down. The STI is in need of a serious nose job, just look at the front end of the current Evo Mean Looking MTF! and the concept is that much better. The big airdam though, like current audi's is about presence. I think it could be fuctional on the Evo, but not so on the base lancers to better differenciate the cars, as I think it would be a 3 car lineup-base, wrx fighter, and Evo.

Word is the new Lancer Ralliart will be AWD and Turbo and be taking aim at the WRX.
