If I were in the car the team radio would be something along the lines of a long series of BEEEEEPS. Did they discover what really happened?

 

The team tried a new material in making the the front suspension. The material failed. He missed Practice #2 as they tried to put the front of the car back together with the older spec components.

 

man the vid that maz posted, was like watching some test pilot test how far they can go, until things blow up. glad buemi is ok

 

I would bet that the suspension failure is a result of a new ride hight adjustment system like is rumored to be on the red bull.

 

^ nah i doubt it, the FIA clearly stated any ride height controlling system is illegal as stated in the books

True, but such a system is only illegal if they are caught. To be caught the FIA would likely need to know how such a system works. Nearly every team swears that Red Bull have a system and there seems to be evidence in differeing ride heights in the form of pictures. Where there is smoke there is fire in F1. However, everyone is boggled as to how they would get away with it which means its well hidden and or complex and thus the FIA cant nail them until its more understood. I am of the impression, as is most gurus at f1technical.net, that such a system is being implemented somehow and Im sure other teams are experimenting as well. Im sure its a loop hole in the regs or something. We will know soon enough as technical secrets dont last too long in F1
