By the way, Briatore stated that he was certain Hamilton would throw away the championship this year again. I am fairly amused at his inaccuracies.
As for Alonso finding another seat. I can't imagine anyone wanting to have Alonso as a teammate. A guy who stays in the pit stop to prevent his teammate from pitting and miss his qualifying slot is, in my eyes, forever marked as someone not to be trusted.

Fernando Alonso has said he will consider leaving formula one if the sport enforces standard engines from 2010.
The FIA proposal has been highly controversial, particularly among F1's car manufacturers, who have hinted the move might be reason enough to withdraw from the grid.
Former double world champion Alonso, who drives for Renault, agrees with their logic.
"If they approve a single engine, that would be the last straw. It would be time to start thinking about retirement," the 27-year-old said at a team sponsor event in Spain.
Alonso said standardising parts like engines would be another "backwards step" for formula one.
He said the last V10 engines with nearly 1000 horse power, before the sport reverted to the current V8s, were "exciting for the drivers -- auto racing at its limit.
"We've gone from a glimpse of the future to cars without electronic aids and no grip (and) which are a visual image of the past."

I am mixed on this topic. I like it that they dont have a standard engine. but at the same time, i would like to see other drivers have a chance to win due to a standard engine.
but when i really thnk it about, that is what Indy racing is for lol. I always wonder how toyota and honda can make so much money with selling their production cars, but yet they fund their F1 teams with barely enough money, to be competive with teams such as Ferrari and Mcclaren. but i must say taht Toyota did really well for 2008, but i always feel as a company they can do a whole lot better funding their F1 projects. But maybe theere is anotherr reason taht i am not aware about, or dont understand how funding teams work.
but i reallllly wish they bring back turbo's again. also i agree with him on the TCS, you would think with all the wrecks from the past. FIA would do their best to use the available technogly of today to prevent those types of accdients. i understand not using TCS or any other type of electronic aids, makes the series more action. but i feel a life of a person is not worth it to me, i rather have them have all the safety they can have in their car. just IMO.

I would like to see Hekki with lighter fuel also. i think with him being on lighter fuel in 2008 (like alonso and hamilton) Mcclaren could of had a better chance for the constructors title.

We reported recently that the Finn, 27, was seeking winter talks with the British team's bosses, after he usually went into the decisive 'Q3' phase of qualifying with a higher fuel load than his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Now, in a candid interview with the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell, Kovalainen has confirmed that some behind-the-scenes goings-on during his first season with McLaren often made "good results impossible".
"Only once was I lighter (on fuel) than Lewis," said Kovalainen, referring to qualifying, "and that was at Silverstone, where I was on the pole.
"In all the other qualifyings I was fuelled more heavily. I was often the heaviest guy in the top six or seven.
"Obviously this has an effect also in the race," he insisted, pointing out the compromise in track position, tyre wear, and time lost in traffic.
When rumours began gathering pace that Kovalainen's seemingly lacklustre performances this year might threaten his seat for 2009, the Finn said he had no doubt about his position.
"The team knew exactly what was taking place," he said. "If I had been at the front more often, then I would have won more frequently.
"So that's something we have to look at for the coming year," Kovalainen said.

very true, and i do agree with you also. he should of finished better running on high fuel load. the postion he would end up with, didnt equal to a high fuel load strat. so his driving was the fault for this, i always wonder if he was just pissed and trying to make a issue out of it. trulli who seems to run on high fuel load does pretty well. he shoudl be doing better then him.

McLaren and Ferrari are full of unsatisfied guys. Being the best doesn't allow you to treat your staff as beasts or "numbers".

formula 1 might as be star mazda, indy or formula bmw/renault/ford/whatever... formula 1 is supposed to be about the technology and how far engineers can push the limits of grip and acceleration, going faster and faster each year. at this rate, the fastest laps from 3-4 years ago will never be broken.

These ideas however are what I believe to be cancerous to F1:
- F1 as a world championship can thrive excluding many prominent western markets [(GBR, France, US, Canada, Mexico, Germany(tbd), Aus(tbd)] ...And where do Honda, Toyota et al sell cars?
- Using tabloid appeal to grow the fan base instead of fostering good competition (What's up for '09: Ferrari admits that alien technology improved thier reliability or how about one of the drivers has a sex change... c'mmon)
- Awarding medals for p1-p3 will somehow promote overtaking, rendering solid points earning drives useless in the championship <Huh!>
- ...and of course the proposed single engine supplier rule <What?>
Yeah Mercedes will see increased sales from replacing "AMG" with "PBJ" (Powered by Judd)

At one time F1 was almost a one engine series, the V8 Ford Cosworth. But, this was by choice, not by rule. I know Ferrari still ran their own engine and wasn't competitive. I don't remember any others.

Honda is now offically out. I saw the press release on their Japanese website.
However there is something good out of this.
They should be devoting more resources to their LMP program. They are going to compete in 24 Hours of LeMans. I also hope that their engineers will land a job working on prototypes.
Also Rubens might be driving in ALMS. This news actually surfaced a little before the Honda announcement, should've saw it coming.
