Offical Grand-Am GT RX-8 Thread
Great Race to spectate at! The parade laps brought alot of it in on how incredibly fun that track must be for those drivers to race on, and I sincerely hope they have the season finisher there again next year. Had a fantastic time.

agreed The corvette DP is awesome looking, I see lots of greatness coming from this debut. Primarily other manufacturers making more influenced designs from their flagship designs
Official post today on the Grand-Am site re. Segal and Assentato:

They're a perfect fit for Ferrari since the gentleman drivers get extra track time. Means more time to work on the setup of the Italias. And Emil tends to stay out of trouble on the track which will be all that much more important when parts are 10x what they cost for a Mazda.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if more teams peel off. Mazda needs to get a new car out there that can both be competitive and relatively inexpensive. Hopefully they put out a version of the Mazdaspeed 6 when the new model comes out in 2014. I don't understand how they're even going to be able to field RX8s when there won't be a production model. But the rules somehow let them run a 20B engine that was never used on a production model so what do I know...
I'm also a little surprised that Ford isn't trying to attract some of the Mazda teams. This is becoming a pretty significant investment for Chevy and yet Ford had a single Mustang competing last year. I would think they'd be a nice fit for teams working with smaller budgets and the Mustangs are, IMHO, a little closer to Mazdas in balance/power than the Camaros.

Congratulations to Tremblay/Bomarito on their win at the Porsche 250 ahead of Segal/Assento in the Ferrari
The Vettes look very stong in the DP class.
Who is going to Homestead this year?

Yes congrats to Speedsource on the win. Listened to the live feed on the internet then watched Speed channel coverage on and off. Great race and Dempsey team (41) looked strong as well as the Sahlen (42) entry.
Heard a mention on the Speed feed about a new Engine Speedsource is working on for next year? Wonder what that is all about?

Jonathan Bomarito joins SRT Viper GTS-R team
continued at: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2012...n=awdailydrive
Jonathan Bomarito is the final driver to join the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) Motorsports Viper GTS-R team that will compete in the American Le Mans Series in 2012.
The 30-year-old Monterey, Calif., resident is racing full time in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series GT class in 2012. Bomarito has one race win this season, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. In his first full season in Grand-Am in 2010, Bomarito won the 24 Hours of Daytona. Following the 2010 season, he was named the rookie of the year after placing third in the driver's championship points standings.

Doesn't say he is leaving. Different series between the two. Running both full time I'd guess?
He is a really good driver, but I have a hard time forgetting how much trouble he was putting the #68 in with his on-track behavior...
And if the spoilers could be unmentioned, I won't be able to start watching it until after I get home tonight around 9pm EST.

whew, doesn't say anything about him leaving so I would assume he's going to race both Series which should be good opportunity for him.
I think this season Bomarito has really driven well, consistently putting down solid laps. Whenever the 70 car needs to move up a few spots, I usually feel a little better with him behind the wheel as opposed Tremblay. No offense to him, he's also a tremendous driver
