They'll make up for that in the Mazdas by restricting flow.
Hrm. I was unaware that the Mazdas got larger fuel cells. Is this because they are inefficient and it's to level the 'time on track between stops' playing field?
I'm not entirely sure I agree with that. I mean, if the fuel inefficiency constantly played against them, they probably wouldn't be as developed as they are now, possibly not even in the series, but it doesn't feel right imo.

It all goes to leveling the playing field, which predates auto racing. If the Mazdas were required to run the same fuel cell as the rest, that extra pit stop would kill any chance of finishing in the same lap. If the Camaros were required to run the same tires as Porsche, you'd never see one after the 2 hour point. So, you get the restrictions and advantages Grand-Am uses to make a race out of it.
Horse racing uses a simpler method: weight. The horses are handicapped based on past performance vs. their peers, by adding or subtracting weight from their jockey's kit. The RX-8s got "horsed" earlier this year when they jettisoned ballast.

Wow, interest has dropped with the rotten breaks for the Mazdas.
Anyway, still showing my support and extending a congrats to the Speedsource 69 team for their podium finish at the "6 Hours at the Glen".
I miss Nick Ham, he drove the wheels off the #70 and has brought so many poles to the team, it used to **** the TRG guys off.

While I know you are a solid SS supporter, what are your thoughts these days with the politics, weight penalties & rule changes?

Yep, I was there. They got second place. I was listening to their radio frequency over the scanner. The team was cheering up a storm for the last three corners till after the checkered flag.
It's their first to 5 finish.

Cheers to all of the Mazda teams for a great showing at Laguna Seca.
Speedsource: Congrats on your great race! 2-3 strong!!!
I guess I have to extend a hand to Brumos as well for their P1 finish... (Been following them since I was a kid)
I am still a bit heated that SPEED Channel cannot show the races live.
Thanks to MRN for keeping me informed during race time.

Hopefully that's a sign that the 8s can make a run at this thing at the end. GA has let the Chevys have a small edge all year so it's nice to see both Porsche and Mazda look good on a track where they should look good. I still hate seeing those Camaros win. They just don't look like they belong out there with the Vettes, 8s, 911s, and M5s. Fat bodies shouldn't get rewarded.
Wow what a great two days of car racing. Over the two days we saw Miata spec, Continental Tire Series GS and ST classes, and finished off with Grand Am DP and GT. And throw in the Super Karts to boot. Oh and the parade laps but that's a whole issue on its own. More later with a video.
Weather was perfect. Cars were loud. Great driving, Teams/Drivers were very approachable. Will be posting pics tonight. Could not believe the 70 car having to pit so late. Bomorito was kicking some Porsche butt for a long time. Congrats to all the teams.
Cant wait for our next race? Maybe Daytona in January!! ha ha
