It was an awesome time! I was there for the day with the Mazda Corral, and lots of direct face to face time and right up on the cars. During the race, several sections of the track were UNBELIEVEABLY loud. On the new section of the uphill and next to the downhill, the RX-8s music was enough to vibrate brains loose and on the shifts the pop of the revs was physically painful. The Camero's were actually worse, as their bass rumble through those sections felt like it a swarm of angry elephants trying to get down my ear canal. Having side exhaust pointing right at the crowd contributed

Racer's Edge would have made it a sweep of the top 5, as it was running 2nd with 6 or 7 minutes to go, and suddenly it just drove off into the grass after turn 3 and sat there until picked up by a flatbed after the race concluded.

Also got my Mazda cap signed by the entire 69 team!

I was able to catch the last 5 minutes on Speed and was very impressed. Wish i could have seen more of the race though. I did hear in the post race interview that the winning 8 was just finished and had no prior track time until this weekend. Congrats Speedsource!

Yup! it was a brand new RX-8, with the newest drivers and crew. They did a fantastic job, leading nearly the entire race, and when they weren't leading, they were hot on the tail of the leader. Well deserved win.

I've got ~1,200 pictures from today, so I'll have plenty over the next few days as I find time to sort through them.

I had a power outage and missed the start (1st half hr) of the race. DVR caught the rest when power was restored.

Awesome finish for 8s. Could not watch this one had Memorial Day things to do. Did anyone catch the secret word on the telecast or see the signage at the track? If so can you post.

I think it was "P Zero Nero" but I wasn't paying that much attention to the secret word since they won't let Canadians enter the contest.

4 wins in 5 races, plus a few of those were podium sweeps.

A little late to the party, I finally got to watch the race last night on my Direct Tv DVR. Mazda is doing great this year! A new car and drivers for Speed Source, that team is becoming a force to reckon with. Looking forward to the 6 hour race on Saturday!

GO MAZDA!!!!!!
