I did not even bother reading all of the comments. but as for what some people are saying. Yes it was brought in from austrailia. The styling was not changed, because it is the exact same care (holden monaro) made in australia. The leather seats and nice sound system looks really good. A very nice interior in my opinion.

THE GTO WAS ORIGNIALLY PLANNED FOR ONLY 3 YEARS TO SELL IN THE U.S. DO SOME REASEARCH.

And if you dnt like the look of it, dnt worry, you would most likely only see the back . I love this car.

The back is the worst part

I respect the car....but it's not my style. In fact, I don't really like the look of any Pontiac right now. I do love the interior and the power the '05/'06 have. The wheel options suck and they are waaaay too narrow for a 400hp/400 ft/lb tq monster.

Yeah I was about to say, they're bringing a redesigned (and *** ugly, imho) model back the year after the camaro returns. The new GTO = the new Trans Am.

I've never read so many could's, would's and should's in my life. I would not believe anything any GM executive says until they start using the words; can, will and shall. GM can't think past the end of March right now.......if they can't help Delphi then GM is going bankrupt 4 months after the first day of striking.

So do you work for Ford or something? hehehe

This sortof behavior happens all the time regardless of the company or even the industry. They reveal what they want to reveal when they want to reveal it. Ever heard of the phrase in the gaming industry "when it's done" when asked when a developer will release a videogame.

Poor GM though, they need some help.....

First post here. Let me say that I bought my 04 A4 GTO in the great December 2004 GTO giveaway. Perfect storm of a bad launch made for unbelievable prices (Mustang, Winter, bland styling, changes to 05 GT0s). GTOs were piling up. I bought mine for $18,400. There was a 10k rebate on the car and then free 5k GM Card money thrown in.

I have never owned an american company car (although built in Aussie). The car has exceeded my expectations in every way. Great quality and solidity. Super comfortable and easy to drive fast.

I tend to buy the out of favor sports car at rock bottom prices. I hope to keep the automatic GTO for a long while. Within a year I am hoping to pick up a smaller, great shifting sporty car as a compliment to the GTO beast. My choices are 350Z, GTI, RX8 and Civic SI, probably in that order of likelyhood to buy.

Rx8 pros: Great shifter, smoother high revving engine, nice sporty cocoon. Great handling/ride combo. Light.
RX8 cons: Hate digital speedos, lack some power/torque. Reliability/gas concerns. Styling is good but not great.
350Z. Love the styling. Nice shifter, good power and exhaust note. Not as refined. Bad reward visibility. Heavy.
GTI. Very refined. great interior. Great engine. Roomy. Not that sporty looking inside and out. Already have a refined/posh car.
SI. Haven't driven but have driving RSX S. Great resale. Good sportyness and low prices. Hate the gimmicky interior. No torque. Looks like a mini gto in styling already.

Basically I am looking for a car to complement the auto GTO for about 20k-25k.

If keeping your 2 year old GTO as your year round daily driver and buying a fun weekend car, I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying something brand new. Personally, if it were me, I would lean towards a convertible, probably a two-seater at that. If you need the more room, you can always drive the goat. Some great options in your price range:

97-00 Porsche Boxster
81-84 Porsche 911SC Targa
98-02 BMW M Roadster (or Z3/Z4 if you wish)
97-00 BMW M3
01-04 Honda S2000
new or used Mazda Miata
new or used Mazda RX-8
Mazda RX-7 (FD)
slightly used Nissan 350Z

those are some great options, but older eurepeon cars scare me w/ maintenance. I have never been a big ragtop fan as structural solidity is huge w/ me. Plus seems like a I more often than not, I don't even lower the top.

I want this 2nd car to be driven about equally w/ the GTO. But I agree, I don't need practicality since I already have that in the GTO.
