Thumbs up NEW- Mazda Owners Club of America

http://www.whowon.com/sResults.asp?S...StoryID=237766

HOLLAND, Mich. -- It was announced today that a new organization has been created for Mazda owners, racers and enthusiasts throughout North America. The Mazda Owners Club of America (MOCA) is a new united community devoted to bridging the gap between Mazda owners, enthusiasts and racers from across the country.

“Mazda has enjoyed tremendous support among enthusiasts and the car club community, including many Miata and rotary engine clubs from coast-to-coast and around the world,” said Robert Davis, Senior Vice President, Product Development and Quality, and the man responsible for Mazda’s North American motorsports operations under the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development banner. “Now we have a group working to link them all together.”

Yea, I registered too. It looks too general to be of much worth at the moment.

"MOCA is a united community devoted to bridging the gaps from Mazda owners, enthusiasts and racers from across the country."

After reading this and mission stuff I'm feeling like I don't get it. Bridges over gaps? Huh? MOCA is a united community? I don't see Mazda SUV owners, MX-5 owners, and Mazda 6 owners.... not to mention 'racers' (and racers are who exactly?) finding much common ground between themselves other than their car payments. Hell even RX8club members have problems getting along and agreeing on anything.

Maybe I just a pessimist, but if it isn't REALLY obvious what the organization is going to actually DO for these disparate groups I don't see it going far. Hopefully I'm totally wrong.

well, considering i know more Mazda Protege and 6 owners personally than that of actual RX-8 owners, i can see how this can work in theory.

key will be MNAO working with existing local clubs and sponsoring some of their club activities, then this thing may take off and become successful.

I'm part of BMWCCA and they have a great magazine, Roundel, that they publish every month and have great events, discount on parts at the dealers, give you money back if you've been a member a year and then buy a BMW from the dealer, sometimes up to $1000, and other good stuff. Obviously we pay dues (currently $40 a year), but its well worth it. Hopefully this Mazada Owners Club might turn into something like that, especially since so many Mazdas are tracked.

It's not that new. The club has been around for over a year.

I got a free key chain from them at the race track.
