I read somewhere that the reason their changing the U.S model is because it needs to "look bigger" because buyers think the current 6 looked too small compared to other mid size sedans. Go figure....

Wow, they ruined it! I love the current 6 and the silver euro version looks great. The red car just looks lopsided and disfigured. What the heck happened?

I'm just praying its the angle of the shots that make this thing look like a Ford Fusion made it with a Mazda3, and this is their retarded offspring.

I believe thats the sport/hatch we're seeing.
They still get the non-sport/sedan model, which is the euro pic.
and the US one looks like crap. I can't believe they ditched that beautiful headlight.

E-mail to Mazda :
"I would just like to know why the new US version of the Mazda 6 has to look so wretched in comparison to the European and Japanese models. Is there a valid reason for it's headlights being half the size of the better looking versions? The grille and front bumper also have something that just isn't right about them. I heard it's supposed to look bigger for the US, but it looks like a minivan and VW Beetle's mutant offspring... Did Ford have something to do with this? I saw they put suspension linkages made of recycled naval anchors on the last 6. The "lower grille", especially the cheap fogs, has some resemblance to the Fusion also... "
E-mail Blitzkrieg on the new 6!!!!

The non-US version looks like a Japanese BMW while the US version looks like a cheap Ford with a small infusion of Mazda DNA. How'd they accomplish that?

ha, I have a parallelism issue in the last sentence though. the verb "has" works for the grille but i need to use "have" for fogs....
The US always get the crap versions of cars too. Not sure if it's still true, but I think in the 80s/90s Ford's euro cars were supposed to be pretty cool.
ETHANOL PLUG:
Not only does it burn cleaner and act as a form of liquid solar power, but it's oxygenated (power) and has a higher octane. If we used ethanol all of our cars would be able to get the same outputs as the JDM cars if not better.

Take away gov't subsidies and ethanol goes away. It's not feasible, and it sucks.
I'd rather see diesel cars here that get 55+ mpg instead.

They should've stuck with the formula that made the first gen a winner. They should've produced one really good car and sell the SAME car everywhere.
This car goes against the Mazda moto, "to not be the biggest carmaker but a niche brand for car enthusiast" I'm sure they could've kept on gaining market share and accolades around the world a second time around.
