BlueEyes,
I dont think so, Is m3 faster then supra? Does it handle better then Lotus?
I see its only advantage that it is BMW its a cult for some people. Whole M3 thing is a bit over rated to my mind...

By that logic, the 8 is over rated too. It's heavier than a lotus, less powerful than a supra, less luxurious than a lexus. It's only real (dis)advantage is the rotary engine.
The M3 is a total package car. It's not meant to be the best at anything, it's meant to excel at everything and be a fun car to thrash around. Which it is. It will no doubt handily out perform an ISF.

because only they have 3 year accidental coverage, the laptop may get "accidentally" dropped into the swimming pool around 2.5 years in, so they can replace it with a new one with the newest model and specs

Then theres the middle people... the car enthusiast who appreciate all cars for the strengths and weaknesses. That is why i love going to IMSA races, nothing but love, everytime i bring my RX-8,i get nothing but love from car enthusiast, wether there driving a spitfire or SLR Merc.

BMW has stated publicly that the new base M3 will be 20-22k more then the previous base package.
So you are looking at a low 70 - 80k price tag.

Tagged along to a huge BMW meet in Miami a month ago and they had a rep there fielding questions.
He stated the original plan was to have a mild mark up of 16k, but they are now making the US version carry the SMG III 7-Speed transmission and the wheels are now 19x8.5F 19x9.5R as a basemodel standard. So the price jumped up 20-22k.
No one was happy about that and when he was asked if they would be offering a 6 speed manual and a 18x8F 18x9R package, he stated they had no plans at this moment.
It looks like the target market is the mid 30-40 crowd.

this seems far from "publicly stating", I can say, I heard from my neighbors aunt's son who is a bmw rep who said that the new M3 will cost 100k USD. but well see when the official prices are anounced soon

So what part is over rated....the great new engine, renowned handling, or the luxury interior
One might argue over priced if they do spike it up....but over rated...not really.....

I love GOOOLD

considering the E39 M5 was in the 80k range, the E9x M3 will probably be in that range as well...especially with the V8. i'll see what i can dig up on the M3...
there has also been talk about discountinuing the SMG, lack of appreciation (or whatever you want to call it) here in the States. don't quote me on this tho...just cause i work for them, doesn't mean i really know. BMW is very hush hush about this stuff

the M3 is the benchmark of 2 door sport coupes, when they were designing poopra's, is-whatever, rx-8,rx-7. etc etc their standard was the bimmer, it wasn't the Elise, or any of the other sports cars mentioned. Go take a look at how successful the generation upon generation of M3's have been in racing, reliability, and resale, and then tell us again how they're overrated.

That makes good business sense. They'll just raise the price of the M5 for no reason other than to price the M3 higher.
Not going to happen.
It won't be 100k.
