Damn I wish I could afford one right now.

TeamRX8 07-16-2007 10:11 PM

I could think of several better cars to buy for $100k

9krpmrx8 07-16-2007 10:16 PM

100k!!!!??, Holy shit, I thought it was priced at like 60-70k. 100k is crazy.

velociti 07-16-2007 10:21 PM

100 grand? it's not doubling in price here. the price in europe and england will NOT be the price here...my brother got his '03 for like 53k, i think, out the door. i would bet the msrp for the new one would be around 60-63k. just a guess.

playdoh43 07-16-2007 10:25 PM

most likely 65-70k range loaded, probably start in the mid to high 50k, still very expensive.

i think personally id be more inclined to buy a 335 and call it a day.

dillsrotary 07-16-2007 10:28 PM

man it looks great in white though doesn't it

9krpmrx8 07-16-2007 10:28 PM

Oh, okay. I was thinking of waiting and getting one used with low mileage.

cars like the M3 tend to hold value very well, I dont think youd save singnificant amount of dough in the next 3 years buying used. but well see :)

9krpmrx8 07-16-2007 10:42 PM

Oh, well thanks for killing my dream man!!!!!

BlueEyes 07-16-2007 10:50 PM

It's definitely not going to be $100k, more like low to mid $60's.

Thats still a lot of money for a 3 series. Even if it is the M3.

Racer Rick 07-17-2007 12:16 PM

Sigh......"focuses on the new M3's lightweight design" & 3644#.........
When are we enthusiasts going to rise up and say "enough with the overweight designs" !!

Yeah; I'm a weight freak.........all that mass kills the experience, period!!! @#$@#%@#

playdoh43 07-17-2007 12:19 PM

then how come you are driving a heavy over weight rx8 instead of a light weight handling machine like the miata? :) some time i wonder, if people here are this obsessed with weight, what does rx7 and miata forum people say about the rx8's weight?

The article clearly says, and I quote, "The BMW M3 Coupé goes on sale in September 2007 priced at £50625."

50,625 British pounds = 103,087.688 U.S. dollars

Will there be THAT much of a price difference between the ones sold in the US and the UK? I find it hard to believe -- but time will tell. We shall see.

Racer Rick 07-17-2007 12:50 PM

Touche!
You are so right! In my case cause I couldn't keep my FC RX-7 running for ever!
Seriously; my next care will be an Elise!!

The E46 M3 sold for well into 40,000 B.P, it sure as hell didn't sell for 80k USD. The car will cost mid 60's as hinted at by BMW.

I remember seeing the 335i weighing in at 3590.

Rotary Rasp 07-17-2007 01:56 PM

335i = 3571 lbs. according to edmunds.com

BlueEyes 07-17-2007 02:08 PM

The US and Europe calculate curb weights differently. In europe they must include the weight of a driver and some luggage, plus a certain amount of fuel.

That's easy, for it's size and class the RX-8 is light. I don't like convertibles and am also too tall to drive a Miata comfortably. I've already owned RX-7s, the RX-8 is a better chassis.

delhi 07-17-2007 02:56 PM

actually the FDs were in the neighbourhood of 2900lbs. So not much less than an rx8 considering it is smaller and has far less luxury accoutrements.

thebiggdaddy 07-17-2007 11:16 PM

i admit, the new M3 does have many performance upgrades. But, I like the old-body style better.

Razz1 07-17-2007 11:19 PM

M3 is a nice car and getting better but the price increase are more than the value of the upgrades. Still at 10 MPG
