Is there still talk of the new IS being available with a V8? I know they were talking about that before. I would like to see this car in person before I pass judgement. I know when I first saw pictures of the RX8, it did not excite me to much, but then I saw it in person and had to have one.

I hate to disagree with my friend Japan8 but I think the new IS is pretty good looking. Definitely not offensive in any way. Has anyone here seen the new BMW3 series? Now that's ugly. Possibly the worst of their new designs. Way too busy. Children could do something more attractive; really. I think this IS kills the BMW and Acuras it competes against. If the 8s had better fuel economy, no flooding issues or horsepower discrepancies it would rule the roost: Not the fastest nor quickest but the such an excellent combination and an enjoyable driver's car.

Anyways, I hear there will be a 250 and 350, 2.5 and 3.5 liter V6s, the later "rumored" to be atleast 250 hp. It sure needs that boost to atleast compete with the new 255hp 330i bimmer, and the TL and G35 sedan with 270/280hp. Also there were "AWD" rumors, which is good and bad. Its a "sports sedan", and yes, we are on an rx-8 board so RWD is most people's primary religion :D but for those of us in the north, AWD would be a deciding factor when cross shopping. RWD torque biased AWD; its awesome, please do it lexo! While Im at it, Toyota, give us a freakin sports car.

Never see one of them in my driveway. The new 3 series... I haven't seen many good pics of it, so I'll reserve judgement, but the initial stuff... I like.

I was just about to comment how Toyota's designs seem to be slipping further and further from what people want, and then these pictures come along...WOW - assuming those pictures are indeed the real deal, the new IS just went from a big disappointment in my eyes to the car I'm probably most excited to see in showrooms.

I approve - that interior is just icing on the cake. Too bad they went and uglied it up with that automatic tranny though. Kills me to see such an eyesore marring such an otherwise beautiful picture. :p

Everything else is blah. And everything including both of them is slow as dirt. The Scion TC looks bloated with the huge body, small tires and small wheel arches (so you can only size rims up but so much). This car puts me to...
Your comment makes no sense. The goal of "plus" wheel fitments is to maintain the same wheel/tire envelope size, thereby not impacting gear ratios. Upsizing the wheel is accompanied by a lower aspect ratio tire (if done right). BTW, note that the tC comes with 17" standard. Name one sports/compact for $16,500 that does. For that matter, name one car for 16,500 that has the following standard: all glass roof with two part moonroof, 17" wheels, full power equip (windows, locks, sunroof, cruise, etc.), 160hp, "Lexis-like" build quality (subjective), reclining rear seats, 160Watt Pioneer stereo, etc., etc.
