New Jersery Residents Please read ~ Need some help

Ok, long story short.

I was going to Woodbury Outlet today, driving thru the Palisades parkway. everyone , I mean there were at least 15-20 cars going the same speed, what speed? about 75 mph.

Then all of the sudden, I saw the car in front of me hit heavy brake, so of course something is wrong, I did the same thing to slow down, I look into the mirror the same thing applies to all the cars behind me. Well, ok, a cop car was on the side of course everyone slows down, make sense ?

We all went past him, I keep looking back at the mirros I saw the cop car move, ok. the cop car was about 3 cars behind me, which was pretty far. Then I just move back to the right lane and slow down. then wow, that ******* cop car just went past all the other cars and pull me over.

I was like wtf, yeah I was going 70 something in 50mph zone, but everyone was doing the same thing, and that highway, yeah, drive 50mph and its gonna take u years to go thru. This crap is really pissing me off, not because of the speeding thing, is the fact that they pick on nice sports cars and no one else. Hell 10 minutes after the ticket crap there was a Mini Copper flew past me like crazy Im sure he was doing at least 100 mph. wtf is all these bullshit ?

so I got a ticket of doing 72 in 50 mph zone.

now question, I heard my friends saying that for jersey tickets, you can appear in person to talk to the court to get it down to a parking ticket kind of summon if its your first time. I wonder if thats true, and anybody did that b4.

My brother got a ticket in jesery 2 months ago and he fought it off thru some Traffic ticket buster kind of agency. but its going to cost like 300 bux

So, is there a point deduction to this ? it didnt say anything on the ticket, it just said the fine would be 200 if plea guilty. if this thing wont go on my records, I just gonna plea it and pay 200 bux or maybe try to talk to it in person.

Im sure if its in NYS area I have to fight it or else its gonna be a bye bye to 3 points or 4. Just not sure about Jersey laws.

Any comments ? thx

points are reciprocal now for nj and ny so you plead guilty then your SOL.....you can go in and plead with the prosecutor before the case but your still gonna get something and a fine.....

wow thats bullshit. I mean yeah I know I was speeding, I admit that part.

but again and again, Im pissed becuz they just pick on a nice looking sports car and no one else. Im in the middle of the whole group and the cop actually have to go thru all other cars behind me just to pull me over, ******* bullshit.

meh, I guess let ppl take care of it, I might still lose, but better than to plea guilty and insurance goes up cuz cops stereotyping. make sense ?

Welcome to Jersey lol some cops in Jersey can be the biggest ******** (especially Palisades Pkwy) and theres some thatll let you off with a warning. Police love to target the sports car cause they are more prone to speeding than lets say a minivan. Cops will just use that fact to plead their case. Its better to just plead guilty take the fine and points ad move on instead of go through the hassle. Its funny how jersey works cause on the Garden State Parkway the speed limit is like 55 mph and everyone goes above 80 and the cops don't say anything when theres a few cars around you. But if you're going lets say 60 a cop will pull you over in no time.

That's very messed up.. I was just looking at possible radar detectors to buy too (though I've never been in trouble for speeding).. if it were me, I'd probably keep driving to the next gas station or rest stop, park in front of allot of people and if the cop decides to issue a ticket, argue about it and make sure others hear of the injustice

Radar detectors are useless unless you got a Valentine or something. By the time it detects a cop, its usually too late. I own a Cobra and i guess its decent but it catches virtually any sort of radar from ambulances to electronics speed limits to even automatics doors for grocery stores.

not to mention some cops might target you because you have a more expensive car and can usually afford to pay the ticket off rather than waste your time and the cops time in court fighting it.....imagine if a cop had every one fight his tickets?..he would be in court more than on the streets and cant issue tickets that way........and trust me cops hate court!

Go in, talk to the prosecutor before the case and try to get your penalty in the form of fine only....unless of course you want the points...

Exactly my point. I've been thru Garden state pkwy like 10 thousand times almost all the time I go above 75 but hey there are like probably 50 cars around me all the time doing the same speed.

and that Palisades Pkwy for some reason allows up to 50 only. thats a fuxking retarded Speed limit if u ask me. Who the HELL drives at 50mph there? I mean seriously. The cop's logic of Sports cars = more prone to speeding thats just completely stupid, I think I've seen crazy Civics on the road WAY more than crazy sports car.

*Sigh* I already got a ticket of failure to obey Stop sign when I 100% sure I DID stop, fuxking cops forced that **** on my head just bcuz I have a sports car, and now this speeding bullshit when there was like probably 15-20 cars around me at the same time going the same speed, pull no one else but me, wow, ******* bullshit.

It doesnt really help, by the time u see it its already too late.

Like I said, I was in the middle of like 15-20 cars, following everyone's speed, but nooooo that cop didnt get anyone else, Im the only victim. What else can I say ? nothing.

If theres no point deduction and does not go on my DMV file. I'll of course just pay for it. save the hassle. but I already got a 2 point deduction for no reason from Great ******* cops, anything more than that my insurance will go up. Just because ******* cops are spending all their time camping for BS like this, why dont they use their time to get some crimmals out there ? Murder rate is going up again in NYC/NJ, what sup with that? where are the cops ?

We need to seriously ask for higher speed limits in NJ. If you follow the speed limit, you're going to get run over by the big rigs the 18 wheelers.

new jersey sucks for tickets. In PA you pay court fees in the ticket so if you go and plead in court it doesn't matter your already paying for it. The only thing you have to pay is a little bit of your own time. In jersey if you loose then you have to pay extra, kinda sucks. If there is just 1 point on a ticket i go to court the worst that can happen is they say no and i pay the ticket in full. Usually they knock it down 1 offense and i go on my happy way. Good Luck, I say fight it anyway just get ready to pay the court fee's on top

Does the ticket say how he clocked you?

You could argue that you were stuck in the middle of the pack with vehicles between you and the cop. Since radar and laser doesn't go through other vehicles, you have some reasonable doubt as to what speed you were actually going.

Isn't that parkway the one where the onramps are just T intersections?
