You're joke isn't totally far off. Rumor has it that the S2000 will be done after MY 2007, and the 2007 model will be very limited. The 2006 model is being sold in less quantities then before, and it was hard for me to find a great deal in my area on one. Hell, half the dealers didn't even have one. I guess if honda is gonna take a break from the roadster scene for a couple of years as the dealership told me, this is their way of keeping a convertible in their lineup, and perhaps it will make it here. I agree with the Geo Metro look-alike thing. However, as ugly as the car may be, it's actually gonna sell well if it does make it here, and definitely in larger quantities then the S2000 ever has. It's all about cost, and it will be an affordable, reliable convertible with practicality and great gas mileage. As great of a car as the S2000 is, it's just too expensive for most people's tastes, and doesn't offer a whole lot as far as a daily driver.

Each year is rumored to be the last year, since the very first year of production of the S2000, either out of mere ignorance by the dealers, or as a way to convince people to "buy them while they're still making them." One of these years, they will stop making it, but dealer rumors have no credibility.

Of course, but naturally after a 7 year run with no significant changes, the rumor is becoming more and more of a reality now. I do know that the 2007 model will be no different then the 2006, and they are eliminating several colors. Other then that, it's up in the air. With all these much more affordable roadsters out there, the S2000 had it's moment, and has now faded. My dealer has yet to even put one back in stock after mine, and most dealers around here don't even have one in stock. I will be utterly shocked if this design is still around in 2008 and beyond. The car isn't selling sell, since the msrp is now $34600, and the hype has long wore off. People are buying Miatas, Solstices and Skys, based on the fact that they can be purchased for significantly less, and are the hottest new thing. The S2000 has become OLD, and it's time for a change. Sales are dropping forcing them to minimize production each year. That is not a rumor. The rest we take a guess on, but it's most certainly the beginning of the end for this style S2000. I'm sure a new S is in the works for the future, and should be an even more amazing maching then the current one.

Out of all the rumors circulating the S2K each year, this is the only one I believe may actually be possible for 2007. Common sense tells you that 7 years without a re-design, and a car virtually dropping off planet in sales and production, with no major changes taking place, and all these new affordable roadsters coming out, it has a little more validity then it did in lets say 2003 when people were saying this. Just keep that in mind. I always laughed at the rumors throughout the years about the S2K, but now I'm thinking to myself " the time is near ".
