No. The V6 is faster... so whenever any you run into a Camaro, even the POS V6 version, you're not going to beat him from the light to the onramp entrance.

Yeah the V6 posted a best run of 5.9 seconds to 60 and a 14.4 quarter mile pass. If you drop the clutch at like 7500 RPM's in our car you MIGHT be able to keep up. I wonder if the 3.6L will respond well to bolt ons?

I just can't wait to hear all the people with V6's adding flowmaster's and trying to act like they own a "real" one....ugh.

Road and Track - 2010 Camaro SS

Not looking too good for road course warriors.

Fitted with 245/45ZR-20 front and 275/40ZR-20 rear Pirelli PZero tires, our test car garnered 0.87g around the skidpad and 66.8 mph through the slalom. For comparison purposes, those are slightly better numbers than the Challenger SRT8 (0.85g and 65.0 slalom) but a far cry from the Track Pack-equipped Mustang GT (0.93g and 69.3 mph). Chevy currently doesn't have plans for a factory "track package" for the Camaro.

Out on the road, what the Camaro gives up in precision, it makes up in pure ride quality. This car is downright comfortable! And due to its independent rear suspension, bumps don't make the Camaro SS "hopping" mad. Sure, push the Camaro SS hard and you'll encounter a fair amount of understeer — there's no escaping the car's plentiful 3860-lb. curb weight. Luckily, the 14.0-in. 4-piston Brembo front brakes (14.4 at the rear) are up to the task of getting the Camaro SS slowed down quickly.

I wouldn't say the IRS will grenade just yet, its probably designed straight from the C6 rear suspension.

Also what stock tires does it come with?

I saw a camero on the road a while back and posted photos. It didn't look too bad.

Last week Friday I saw a car ahead of me in the distance and the rear end was really high up off the ground. I couldn't tell what it was from that distance, but it looked ugly. When I got up to it I was surprised it was the camero.

I'm no longer on the fence on it's looks - it looks like a poorly skinned kit car to me.

R&T got similar numbes for the 8, and it is a great track car. Granted the weight of the Camaro will make transitions not as easy has the 8.

.88 G
65.4 Slolam

On a side note, the Camaro won't last as a production vehicle. I give it 4 years tops, the Mustang will outlast the Camaro any day, reason being is that women buy them. The Camaro won't be sought out by Women so in the end the Mustang will last while the Camaro will die. Though in the meantime it will be one kick *** drive.

The Dunlops that came with our cars though weren't exactly good for on-limits roadholding ability though. They never really had a nice, progressive grip like the Pirelli PZeros, they would just let go instantaneously. Not good for a simple, basic test like the salom or the skidpad. Figures are useless anyway they're under the exact same conditions. We're splitting hairs at this point though.

The Camaro SS will undoubtedly be the ROADcar to have for this generation. The major factor against it at the track will be it's 3800+ lb curb weight.

Its not going to just die...if you dont remember it ran from 67 till 2002 I think thats shows a lot of interest in the car

You are correct but you also need to take into account the generation that was buying the Camaro, that generation is getting old and will soon disappear. The death of the Camaro and Firebird was that it didn't appeal to women so they lost all those sales to the Mustang. Same will happen hear, the Camaro and Challenger are just to big for women (most) to want to drive them. Ford has a great recipe for a sports car to thrive, a relatively cheap entry level model that women find attractive and fun to drive. The Camaro can not match the Mustang in this aspect, but hey weirder things have happened.

I love the looks of this thing and it's great to see the numbers are where I had hoped. (still wish it was a bit lighter but that's okay)
I customized one Saturday on chevy's website, seriously considering it...

The weight doesn't bother me so much. I've never gone to a track event before, and don't have an interest to change that. I've never come close to pushing the limits of my RX8's suspension. Frankly, I don't need race-car suspension on a 2000 lbs chasis. I drive my car hard (but safely) on the public road from time to time, but again the RX8's handling capabilities are over-kill to my driving habits. So long as the driver's door handle doesn't get scraped on the pavement every time I turn right, I think I'd be ok with a 3,800 lbs car. And its pretty easy to improve the suspension of a car. Me and my cousin installed new springs on his LS1 TA and it made quite a bit of difference. BTW that would be one of my first mods on the new Camaro; a quick drop and it'll look absolutely sick.

Victory Red RS SS with sun roof please and thank you

Baseline dyno video for a Camaro SS. 6-speed stock with 1000 miles on it. 364 rwhp / 371 rwtq

Graph

Factor in 15% drivetrain loss and you get 418.6 crank... not quite 422 hp, but get some more miles on it, and I'm sure it climb to about 370rwhp like the LS3's in the G8 GXP.

BTW, they were able to get 410 rwhp / 410 rwtq out of a G8 GXP with a Corsa catback exhaust, Rotofab Intake, and a tune... 470'ish crank with easy boltons and a tune.

Whaaat? Everyone knows an intake or exhaust only adds 4 horsepower each

Chevy small blocks are amazing. Probably the best engine in production as far as creating horsepower goes. LG Motorsports got 600 rwhp out of the ZR1 from headers, smaller pulley, and a tune.
