So this is BMW trying to satisfy the market for those who want more than a standard 3 series coupe, but can't afford the outrageous price of the new M3.

Guess I've seen a prototype of that car last friday on the autobahn near Munich. It was partially masked with tape, but clearly the new 3 coupe and the exhaust looked quite different from the regular (new) 3 series.

umm BMW was a pioneer in terms of forced induction engines with the 2002 back in 1970. I'd trust a BMW engineer with any mechanical feat.
