need help fixing headlight wiring bugs
i have a 92 mazda mx6 that ive been having some problems with, the headlights seem to have a mind of there own, when the car is parked and not running the headlights just randomly come on, there is no pattern to when they go on, ill just come outside and there they are turned on even with the switch turned off. this car does not have the timed delay shut off either so i honestly have no idea what to do to start troubleshooting this problem. is it possible that it could be the switch on the colum? its the type where you turn the end of the turn signal lever, similar to the rx8s headlight switch. thanks ahead of time for any ideas

Zoom Zoom....
Try a MX6 group.,
But electrical is pretty straightforward to troubleshoot - as long as you take the time and have the right tools.
Off the top.
Remove the steering column shroud and unplug the connector to the dimmer / on-off stalk. Wait and see if you still have the problem.
If you still do, then It's probably a short at the headlight relay.

wait theres a club for these beaters? lol....well i know there was alot of corrosion on the relay for the headlights because when i examined it, one of the wires was so corroded it broke right out of the plug... i did pick up a colum switch from a junkyard but im looking for maybe any other things that may cause this.. maybe i can finda relay somewhere for it.. anyone know where i can buy a new one? besides maybe the dealership? like i said tho this will be hard to troubleshoot because its so random, it didnt do it for like 2 months then it might do it like twice a week, then back to not doing it. and jumpstarting= sucks

Lots of electrical problems start with crappy grounds as well....although that isn't usually a spontaneous on thing.....
Replace the relay and the switch and clean the grounds and go from there
You might also have a wire shorting the relay on somewhere in the harness...that would be fun to find
