My wife likes the CX-7...

My wife likes the looks of the CX-7 but that's about the extent of her automotive thirst for knowledge. I like the idea of AWD, a turbocharged engine, all the creature comforts and improved gas mileage (compared to her V6 Xterra) but the rest is a big question mark.

Anybody in here know anything about the new CX-7?

I got a CX-7 for the wife at the end on May. Icy Blue GT FWD with everything but the Nav. She has been real happy with it and the power. Has a good firm ride with great handling for a CUV. The transmission has really impressed me with its quick shifts and smooth operation. Getting 20-21 MPG with mixed driving. I have heard that AWD models have been averaging about 2 MPG less. No issues so far @ 4,700 mi except for a CEL for gas cap.

Pros: They're pretty and keep getting great reviews in every article I've read about it.

Cons: Mazda emblem the size of a frisbee.

The car doesnt drive like a SUV, although the size is and you do feel it once inside, but the suspension and steering is like a normal car to me when I test drove it, it definatly has turbo lag, which was kinda fun i thought, i have never driven turbocharged cars before. Good power and pick up, okay engine response, smooth transmission and its affordable, cheaper than competitors. I wont get it, its too heavy and its a SUV, but the DISI 2.3L is a pretty good engine. Mazdaspeed 3 is gonna be a winner, its cheap and fast.

We drove it, we liked it. The turbo lag is something we would have to get used to!
Didn't buy it yet, but are seriously considering it!
