Mustang Monthly looking for a '65 fastback with a Wankel
It actually existed and they are looking for info on who built it and where it might be now.

Well I have already contacted them with what I know
As can be read in this book
http://www.okmustangs.com/ACTION/act71wankelbook.html
and these articles

It was originally built by Curtis Wright as a showcase for their 2 rotor engine. that first book has some interesting dimensional and design info.
The other articles talk about how many hands it went through before it ended up with a guy named Ray Harris who had it until at least 1991

Response to the second line: the fact that it makes more torque than HP? Also, where are the exhaust ports... they're not labeled in the picture.

There was also a Corvette Wankel after this.
yeah they were having trouble getting the engines into planes and wanted to showcase this new one
oh, yeah. I was looking at that actually lol. I forgot to mention it cause I was on my way out... oh well.
Cool article. Now who's motivated to start a company and build purpose built, non-Mazda, plug & play replacement engines for Mustangs and Camaros and other cars? That would just so cool. Oh well. Wishful thinking. Probably too much R&D behind it.
