McLaren Mercedes F1 - VS - Street Cars
McLaren gives a 70 second headstart at Silverstone (3.2 mile track) to a Mercedes A160 and E-50 Saloon
Guess what happens?

Small screen - sorry. Starts getting good about a third of the way through.

Yeah, that's nuts... I love how they have the E500 in there to show magnitude... I mean, it takes the whole track for a badass E500 to gain 15 seconds on an average car. You figure maybe with an 8, you could gain 10-20 seconds, maybe a Ferrari could gain like 25-30 seconds, but an F-1 will just destroy 70 seconds. Crazy.

What does it even mean. That with a 70 second head start a modified car could beat an F1 car around the track? Give me a walking head start and I could beat a F1 car around a track. I think you'r missing the point. There isn't a modified car on the planet that could beat an F1 car around a track.

Where do these people get the perception that any road car can remotely get close to an F1 when modified? Horsepower numbers? what? quarter mile stats? or Dyno? heh
Even if you were to put in 8 more turbos inside the Veyron and make it belch fire with 2000HP, it still wouldnt beat the F1.
Theres a reason F1 cars are built millimeters off the ground and has all these weird wings sprouting off the sides.
To put it simply, they can just about do the Silverstone hairpin at 100kmh up.
I wanna see any "modified" car do that.

What would be more fun is to take a 250cc shifter kart and show it destroying Exotics like the Enzo, Carrera GT, and SLR around a road course Or even a 125cc Shifter around a tighter road course.

Did you see the Ariel Atom video from Top Gear?
I think thats as close as most people will get to driving an F1 car. The Enzo lapping the Top Gear track at 1:19, the Atom at 1:19.5.
Not that the Enzo is a bad car, far from it, all the amenities of a luxury GT car, with the performance of a GoKart, nobody except Ferrari can make that kind of magic.
And they did another funny "road test" borrowing Renaults 2004 F1 car.
The video is up in racingflix.com I think.
You know what the F1 car numbers are? 59 seconds around the track! and the track was half wet that morning! imagine if its dry...

The F50 has gobs of F1 technology in it, if you ever see one up close they look like hell because it has thin paint and the body is carbon fiber. I'd post a video of an F50 racing some other Ferrari's on the streets but I just got a warning about posting street racing vids It's pretty cool though since they go through some tunnels and the sound when they go wot in the tunnels is heavenly.

The latest edition of EVO mag has both the F40 and F50 with 0-60mph times of 3.7 seconds. I seriously doubt either of these cars can turn in a 4 second 0-100 time. Especially considering the Enzo has a 0-60 of 3.4 seconds and a 0-100 of 6.7
Hey Ike is there any way you could send me that video of the F50 racing? And what the crap is wrong with posting a video of one of the sweetest cars ever cruising around? that's LAME imo.
