legacy gt is alot of fun especially modded its a more grown up look. I have been in both cars never a modded ms6 but a few modded legacy gts and i like the legacy. You cant really go wrong with either one though.

True that... The AWD disengages only when the ebrake is engaged.

Man thanks for all the feedback and votes! I have to say I like the speed6s interior a bit better and probably ext styling as well but niether are about sportscar styling. The info about the awd being practically full time is greatly appreciated. The boxer scares me a bit kinda like the 8 when I first got it. I bet I could handle a head gasket swap in the speed 6 but would be lost on the boxer ( it would have 2 head gaskets pointed out sideways, right?) idk.

The AUdi suggestions are nice but Ive heard horror stories about parts prices (same w/ VWs) is that correct?

I see both run about 6.4 to 60mph so thats a wash, I prob wont do much more than an ecu flash air filter and up the boost. Used Infinity G35X crossed my mind but sooo ugly. Obviously I have to drive both in manual form before deciding but a nieghbor just got a used speed6 in TiGrey and I drooled a bit more compared to Leg GTs. I prob wont pull the trigger until it snows but I will update with decision. Thanks again!

Much more mod potential on the scooby than the MS6.. And I'm sure the 0-60 on the LGT is 5.6ish, not 6.4
PS
Avoid the 2009 LGT, go for the previous gen ones.

Stock MS6's are known to hit mid 5's 0-50. Car & Driver says the MS6 is capable of 5.4 stock.

^^ahh I thought those times were slow, now i see I was looking at Motortrend times in an auto Legacy GT. I watched a top gear vid of a mazda6 MPS and the big guy said 6.5 sec you think its an auto or not awd being an MPS vs. a mazdaspeed6? I believe your times though I didnt read the C&D tests which I always use for reference.

maybe i didn't state it correctly, but the ms6 IS a fwd car that put a half-*** awd system in...it's actually a 100% fwd that constantly detects slippage and can transfer UP TO 50% to the rears, never any more than that. that to me is not awd. it might work for the op, but like i said, it awd is a huge deal to him b/c of location, i'd go w/ the subie. otherwise it's ms6 ftw.

It is engaged at all times unless some awkward situation occurs (e.g. parking brake, driving conditions [which i forgot to mention]) like I said before... Hence the reason why a few MS6 owners have designed a switch to engage 100% power tot he front wheels so they can stop getting their *** whooped on the highway when drivetrain loss of their awd kicks in.

Recorded times of 0-60 in the 6's are usually because the DSC is on or the driver is easy on it.

The minute an Audi goes out of warranty is time for one to get rid of it. The repair bills are outrageous.

IDK what's more moronic, something that turns awd into fwd, or racing from a roll on a public highway.

Either one isn't as stupid as street racing MS6 owners, shoulda gotten/traded in for a MS3 for that!!! lmao

Every ricers know that MS3 is the only Mazda that's 2 Fast 2 Furious and can brag on YouTube.

admittedly i'm not an awd expert, but some quick research to back up my point seems to say otherwise...

The Evo system (either the VLSD or the ACD) are rally proven and great "true" awd systems that send power to all four wheels all the time. Many of the "active torque split" solutions are slow to respond and are poor performers at the track.

this might be a good video to watch...i don't have time right now so i don't know if it helps or hurts my case, ha ha

A couple different points here on AWD. We should make some distinctions. I've got 3 great, all very different, AWD configurations in my driveway.

1st example is the FX35. It's a RWD biased setup, longitudinally mounted V6, that can direct up to 50% of the power to the front wheels when the ATTESA-ETS drivetrain computer senses slip.

2nd example is the Evo. It's a transversely mounted engine, "true" full time AWD, running power through an active center differential (ACD) that uses multiple sensors to adjust torque distribution between the front and rear drive wheels.

The 3rd example is Subaru LGT (automatic). It's a longitudinally mounted, horizontally opposed boxer engine that distributes power based on a series of sensors. Subaru calls their setup "symmetrical" because of the weight distribution of the entire drivetrain. The ECU can vary power distribution from 90/10 - 45/55 percent split F/R.

Of my three AWD cars the Subaru is the one best suited for poor road conditions. It feels like it's already in park ranger mode by the 1st patch of black ice, rain, dirt or snow. The Evo is potentially as capable but it's setup for a summer road course right now. The Infiniti is great in the rain and pretty good in the snow but it shines best during the trials and tribulations of daily driving. It's AWD system is the most advanced but it wasn't developed through rally R&D like Subaru and Mitsu.

Here's a diagram to help supplement my crappy explanations...

Who needs a turn stalk anyways! Ouch.

I think the Mazda6 looks more classic than the Legacy. I think it'll date better than the GT.

Here is my car before I put t back to stock. One thing though. If you get the MS6, get a Cobb AP for it. This car shuts the throttle at 5600 rpm and becomes useless from there. The Cobb AP makes the car a whole lot of fun in stock trim. The white one is from one of my "clients".

^very nice MS6's its gonna be a hard decision that may just come down to which one "feels" more comfortable for the daily grind to work as far as seat, pedals, and steering wheel placement fitting my body go.
