I agree. There was a lot of rotary in that commercial. That wouldn't have happened if Mazda wasn't dedicated to producing a car with that engine.

i've watched an interview in Geneva of Peter Birthwhistle (design chief in at Mazda Europe) , Peter have expressly talked about of MORE than one car based on rotary platform.

sorry is dubbed in French but you car hear what he is saying (rotary part is at 3:58)

a lot of well known things about the future of Mazda: new veichles (cx-5, miata ,mazda6) things about Skyactiv, Demio EV, hybrid with Toyota.

the last part is for rotary: Peter says that the development of a new engine is going on and there are evaluations to "run more than one model on that platform"*.

Rotary is also associated to "sportscar".

*this is LITTERALLY

Mazda is finally back on track. More power and better fuel economy from smaller lighter engines in Skyactiv tech is great. Seems like engines nowadays are just getting bigger and bigger which is good for sportscars but not economic cars. Also, the Kodo design is a giant step from the nagare design which had good body lines minus the happy face. As for the Rotary, it definitely has to be bigger (16x) and turbocharged. 3 rotor option if possible for the Rotary flagship car. And it's good if they keep the RX-8 alive and make a new 2 seat RX-7 replacement. The RX-8 is good for the not so hardcore enthusiast and will make better sales. The RX-7 should be like the GT-R, not a real money maker but for the hardcore enthusiast and to stand as the Mazda flagship car and bring attention to the Mazda name. I hope Mazda won't disappoint.

That definitely is the new rx9. Just wondering when they will make the official announcement?
