if that thing comes in SkyActive Diesel, it could be a force to be reckoned with here in the US.

watered down just a bit...to fit in I suppose. Mazda still did a good job. They should make a hatchback version instead of the wagon. It could be a poor mans Panamera. Regardless, this car screams I need power. You can't make something that looks like this slow.

It will be interesting to see if they release it right away to the US/Canada markets with the diesel engine, and who they target the diesel market towards.

Will they aim at the people who buy the Jetta/Passat/A3 TDI cars, and market their cars as being more fun to drive with better fuel economy, or will they target the car to people looking at the E350 Merc, saying its just as good, but nearly half the price, but with way better fuel economy?

I look forward to test driving one, loving it, and then complaining that Mazda won't bring it into the US in the color I want, with a manual transmission.

BC.

I have a sickening feeling that I'm going to have the same perspective.

Automotive news are reporting a 2.5 4cyl??..

A source with knowledge of Mazda’s product plans said the U.S.-market Mazda6 will get a 2.5-liter, direct injection four cylinder engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission as its base powertrain. The Russian-market Mazda6 gets a base, 2.0-liter direct injection engine, according to Mazda’s announcement

We will see, it will be a SA 2.5 then

Looks like there could be 2 engine options for US 6, 2.2l SAD and 2.5l SAG?

I'd think that makes a bit of sense from a sales perspective. The 2.5L is probably going to hurt the economy impact of the SkyG vs the 2.0L SkyG, but it will produce the better power numbers that is the biggest complaint in the US about the CX-5, and probably still give 30+mpg?

I'd still take the diesel. Crossing my fingers that the "base with MT" doesn't mean "only base gets MT", and a MT AWD diesel is an option.

There are mags saying 2.5 gas and 2.0 diesel. I see other mags saying 2.0 gas and 2.2 diesel for US.

It's funny to see them speculate. Top level mags are still saying the next MX-5 will have a 1.3 turbo .

Don't know of any 2.0 SkyActiv Turbo Diesel, only 2.2 Litre.

There is a 1.3 DI NA SkyActiv used in JDM Demio (Mazda 2) for the past 18 months, which they are not going to install in the export Mazda 2 (Big Mistake IMO), Mazda 2 needs a NEW engine instead of the tired old (20yo) 1.5 litre.

Looks like the ALL NEW Mazda 6 Wagon will debut in Paris on Sept 29.!!

No plans for a Mazda 6 HATCH at this stage, or Mazda 6 COUPE!!??...I don't believe them, my sources say YES.

From Mazda's Facebook page:
2014 Mazda6 First Look (4 photos)
Here is an official first look at the 2014 Mazda6. This Russian-spec Mazda6 will be on display at next month's Moscow International Automobile Salon. Look for more information pertaining to the US-spec 2014 Mazda6 at a later date.
So not this coming winter/spring

A coupe would be awesome but I don't wanna hear any bitching about it being FWD :p. No way Mazda can afford a rwd loss leader right now. But some competition would be nice since toyota and Nissan have practically ceded this niche to Honda (Solara is dead, not sure if the Altima coupe is coming back after 2013)

The problem is there isn't much profit in small cars. Sure, you have to sell them to keep your corporate MPG rating up. But there it more profit in larger vehicles.

i agree. a car like Cx-3 could help Mazda to boost profits on small cars (see Nissan Juke)

When was the last time Mazda produced a coupe that was not a rotary? MX3? And a RWD coupe that was not a rotary?

1990 Mazda 929, It's a sedan if you want to get picky. The RX8 would also be a sedan as it has 4 doors.

Al I always like the 929. Had a bit of a gangster look to it

Still cannot think of a RWD Mazda coupe that was not a rotary in the 30-40 years.

I forgot about that MX6! It was a good looking coupe. Still a FWD though. So no RWD coupes that were not rotary powered?

I don't get the fascination you guys have with wagons.
I think wagon, I think 1980's and soccer moms.
