reports of the last day are saying Ford has announce 3 versions of the Fiesta for the NA market for 2010- 3 door and 5 door hatch and sedan. if we are to see the 2 it wont be before then and probably not since they'd have to be priced higher than the Mexico built Fords which are basically the same car.

I'd love to have a nice cheap and compact Mazda for a dd, hope this thing passes its tests. For now I'll rock my 94 toyota pick-up as my dd.

I think the Mazda 2 could very well be priced above the Fiesta. I'd pay more for it. Sales volume and profit margin for small cars will go up. Plenty of room for both the Fiesta and the Mazda 2. Also, the Mazda 2 could get here sooner. Really, the question is where in the world can Mazda and Ford get the best return on their limited supply of the World Car of the Year?

The Chinese are getting it, why can't we (dammit)? I long for the day when the U.S. can become a developed country.

Mazda2 sedan caught Hot weather testing in Death Valley

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/03/s...-death-valley/

the trick with bring them here is going to be production ability. Mazda just might not have enough room to produce enough for the states. Maybe they'll import them here from the China plant?

edit- oh dang further reading and looking at ALL of the pics proves this to be a next gen Mazda3 sedan testing. The otehr pics make it clear. Still cool but not the 2

That is all insulation to make the car extra hot while testing in Death Valley.

Isn't Ford going to produce a car based on the Mazda 2 floorpan in Mexico? They are changing over from truck production to car. Maybe, Mazda will partner with Ford and have it produced there.
