mazdaspeed 2 is nice.

 

I hope they bring it over. There needs to be some zoom zoom in the subcompact segment.

 

The turbo Mazda 2 WILL happen in less than a year, but will Mazda NA sell it here? If it doesn't, I'm going with a Mini Cooper S, an Audi A1, or an Alfa MiTo.

I'm thinking, $5 gas = Mazdaspeed 2.

OTOH, I wonder if that turbo 1.6L might end up in a Miata soon. A 35+ mpg 2200 lb six-speed Miata coupe would be awesome.

 

Is the MiTo guaranteed to be coming? The interior in that rocks.. Also if the M2 does come, they better do something about that interior. It looks so drab. If only the MINI didn't have such crappy interiors.

The Fit, the Mini, and the Yaris/xD are the only sure things. Well, I guess the Ford Fiesta is definitely coming. But, given spiraling fuel prices, I can't see Alfa coming to the the US without the MiTo. The Fiat 500 is another possibility. Saturn could bring the Opel Corsa over. I think all those cars will make it over eventually, but I think the Mazda 2 is the one most likely to make it over in the next 1-2 years. It would have to be priced above the Fiesta, of course.

have you guys seen a Nissan Versa SEDAN? i just did yesterday- i had no idea how gawd-awful they were. I literaaly said to my wife- what is that ugly thing? she says- Its a Nissan something... Then i saw the Versa badge.

what a horrendous looking thing. the c pillar is huge the angles are all wrong....

Yeah, when they add a trunk (for the American market no doubt) to some of those small cars they look really horrendous and awkward. Most look so much better in hatch form than in sedan form - I don't understand why some people think the other way around.

 

The coupe doesn't look too bad, kinda cool actually. The sedan is awful though....
It's like some kind of mini-minivan....





I really hope the Mazda 2 comes here. The first time I saw it I thought it needs to be in the US. It looks so good in black too.

 

My girlfriend hates all wagons/hatchbacks (that don't look like sedans) simply on the basis that they're wagons, and therefore have to be ugly. She hates my car, the Audi A3, GTI, WRX (justified), and pretty much any other wagon, it drives me nuts. However, she claims if she needs storage space she'll get an SUV, which confuses me because most SUVs are basically just lifted wagons with big tires.

As for the Mazdaspeed 2. Mazda just keeps getting it done!!!

Now bring us a production Rx8 20B and I'd get giddy!!

 

You could get the Sedan version too.. Made in China. As Mazda's Japan-Ujina plant is going flat chat (production).......

Canada will receive the Mazda 2 starting next year. Not sure about US since US market tends to err towards the larger automobile formats.

From Mazda Japan media site, the sedan by Mazda in China at the joint Ford Mazda plant there, Charlie would remember their name..

Oh... Autoalliance I think the plant is called.

 

The 2 needs to come like yesterday and I think that hideous Nissan Versa is a re-badged Renault if I'm not mistaken.
