Lancer Evo X = My New Car
Looks like I will be jumping ship. Was really thinking of an RX8 in another year or so (need both my kids forward facing) but it appears that the Evo X will be coming out mid 2007 and is totally new. Four doors, AWD 300+hp able to handle asphalt and dirt. I’d take Mitsu’s sportback concept but now word on if that will get a green light and I doubt I’ll wait much more than a 18 months for my next car.

That's a total Acura TL with a Turbo!

Who knows if that car will look the same as the one that makes it to production in the US. I have an Evo VIII and have been planning all along to get an X when they come out. Some people couldn't wait, took a big hit, and traded in their VIII for a IX. Not me. That X will be a better performing, better looking Evolution than any of the previous versions. They're talking about offering it in both hatchback and sedan trims so that'll be interesting too.

Also, what's up with the X-Men, Cyclopse laser beam eyes in the middle of the grill??

I think the grill looks a little Audi-ish to me. Not a big fan. Hopefully it won't pass our frontal crash tests and we'll get something a little more traditional.

I'd prefer the sportback but don't know if they will make it.
Still the Evo looks pretty good

I do see a little Acura in the side view. Not the coupe look I wanted but alot better than the BMW 325 or even Dodge Charger I considered. If it didn't have 4 full size doors and auto it was going to be a nock-down drag-out with the wife. If nothing else better had shown up I was willing to do that.
Still it looks much better IMO than existing Evo's/WRX's (I like curves). And it will be lighter, more powerful and with a quicker tranny (6 speed DSG) should hit low 4's 0-60 and high 12's in the 1/4 without sacrificing handling. We'll see summer 2007 if it comes out great or a turd.

I've seen it before and I'll say it again...that's a HUGE improvement. Now...let's see how the production version looks.
If they build it to look alot like that and offer a RS version, there wont be much fault to be found in the EVO anymore. One thing is for sure..."looks" is NOT a problem.

^^ yep... an RS version... no big rear wing, BUT leather (and maybe sunroof) still available as options... this is definitely one car I will have to check out. Saw it at the Tokyo Motorshow and still loving it.

If they offered a wingless MR or GSR version with all the creature comforts I would have a hard time looking at anything else.
