Lancer Evo X = My New Car

Looks like I will be jumping ship. Was really thinking of an RX8 in another year or so (need both my kids forward facing) but it appears that the Evo X will be coming out mid 2007 and is totally new. Four doors, AWD 300+hp able to handle asphalt and dirt. I’d take Mitsu’s sportback concept but now word on if that will get a green light and I doubt I’ll wait much more than a 18 months for my next car.

still looks like an acura TL/ TSX to me...

zoom44 01-13-2006 04:12 PM

jumping ship? you never got on board this one

TeamRX8 01-13-2006 04:13 PM

Lol

Jedi54 01-13-2006 04:15 PM

That's a total Acura TL with a Turbo!

lshu 01-13-2006 04:18 PM

more like an Acura TL with down syndrome... haha

but yes it will rock the pants off the RX-8

cas2themoe 01-13-2006 04:20 PM

^^ Just what I was thinking. You can most def see it in the door lines. Atleast it looks better than the current EVO.

BlueEyes 01-13-2006 04:23 PM

Looks heavy, but nice.

Steiner 01-13-2006 04:25 PM

Who knows if that car will look the same as the one that makes it to production in the US. I have an Evo VIII and have been planning all along to get an X when they come out. Some people couldn't wait, took a big hit, and traded in their VIII for a IX. Not me. That X will be a better performing, better looking Evolution than any of the previous versions. They're talking about offering it in both hatchback and sedan trims so that'll be interesting too.

RX-9 = My New Car

I don't have offical conformation that it will be built, but it will be my next car. :fruit:

Jedi54 01-13-2006 05:10 PM

Also, what's up with the X-Men, Cyclopse laser beam eyes in the middle of the grill??

Raptor2k 01-13-2006 05:10 PM

Eye brows...

Steiner 01-13-2006 05:12 PM

I think the grill looks a little Audi-ish to me. Not a big fan. Hopefully it won't pass our frontal crash tests and we'll get something a little more traditional.

globi 01-13-2006 05:16 PM

I like its looks. I'd definitely prefer it over the current Evo and STi.

playdoh43 01-13-2006 06:07 PM

even mitsubishi wants to look like our the rx8

True, perhaps bandwagon is more appropriate or "pineing for". I still prefer the styling of the 8. But I find the Evo X acceptable and it better suits my needs.

I'd prefer the sportback but don't know if they will make it.

Mikelikes2drive 01-13-2006 07:41 PM

front looks aggresive so does that hood, but from the side it looks too much like a family car

toca 01-13-2006 07:48 PM

that car is a tl front end neon mid section evo rear lol i like the evos that r out now better

RA-Eight 01-13-2006 07:54 PM

It looks too pretty to go off-road in a rally...

QBallz 01-13-2006 07:55 PM

they need to dump that stupid wing

Design1stCode2nd 01-13-2006 08:40 PM

I do see a little Acura in the side view. Not the coupe look I wanted but alot better than the BMW 325 or even Dodge Charger I considered. If it didn't have 4 full size doors and auto it was going to be a nock-down drag-out with the wife. If nothing else better had shown up I was willing to do that.

Still it looks much better IMO than existing Evo's/WRX's (I like curves). And it will be lighter, more powerful and with a quicker tranny (6 speed DSG) should hit low 4's 0-60 and high 12's in the 1/4 without sacrificing handling. We'll see summer 2007 if it comes out great or a turd.

lol it looks like a family sedan acura with a huge ricer wing ;)

rx8wannahave 01-13-2006 10:06 PM

I've seen it before and I'll say it again...that's a HUGE improvement. Now...let's see how the production version looks.

If they build it to look alot like that and offer a RS version, there wont be much fault to be found in the EVO anymore. One thing is for sure..."looks" is NOT a problem.

Japan8 01-14-2006 12:18 AM

^^ yep... an RS version... no big rear wing, BUT leather (and maybe sunroof) still available as options... this is definitely one car I will have to check out. Saw it at the Tokyo Motorshow and still loving it.

Then it wouldn't be an RS. ;)

If they offered a wingless MR or GSR version with all the creature comforts I would have a hard time looking at anything else.
