Ahh yes, i have to agree, the FC is THE RX-7. Probably because I will be owning one soon..

Have you seen the old FC magazine ads? They directly compared themselves to the 944 at every turn.
As a side note, there was a professor at my college that used to work for Porsche and had a lot to do with the 944. Apparently in class he would explain what happened with the 944 and that the FC RX-7 came in and undercut it by ~10K taking away too much of its sales for the car to continue in North America. Consequently, he "left" Porsche a short while later and became a professor.
I never took him, but nobody liked the guy, so whenever I had the chance I'd park my '87 FC Turbo next to his Audi as a friendly reminder.
