?????

Yeah right, BIGGER AND BETTER...??
How can you go from a sports car to a mini TRUCK (SUV) and call it "Better".
They have completely different functions as a person transporter.

Enjoy that lovely finished Ford...real class mate.

I suspect this thread was initiated to inflame some of our members. His "moving on to something bigger" was an ok statement...but "and better" is what pushed everybody's button! But heck, maybe he meant better for his needs. If the 8 was not satisfying his needs, then his moving on means that's one person who won't possibly be venting negatives about the 8 in this forum!

Great logic! Drive a big, heavy delivery van around in case you need to buy more stuff! Stores do deliver you know.

What do you call a Ford Pickup truck once you add a cab, 2000 lbs. of crap and a Lincoln badge?

Some people on this website need to chill out. Deliveries cost money and I'm sure that it is a much bigger pain in the *** to have it delivered. But, that's off topic. I respect the guy for going out and getting what his life requires. Not all people can have the luxury of driving whatever they want. And, before the 2007's I thought that the Navigator was a great car. In no way do I think of it being a Ford pickup with a cab on the back. And, even if it was that, who gives a rat's ***?

I personally like the new Navi's, but there's no way in hell that I would trade my RX8 for a giant gas guzzler. The 8 isn't much better on gas, but it gets around a hell of a lot easier in traffic. I had a small sports car for about 2 years. I decided to buy a nice, new 2005 F-150 about 4 months ago and drove it for three months. I thought I would have more uses for a truck. It wasn't long before I couldn't take it anymore. I called a local dealership and told them to find me an RX8. They found one about a week later. I went there, worked out a deal, and left two hours later with my 8. Never looked back.

Thanks for the sarcasm.

Deliveries are not exactly convenient. I have a 90 lb german shepherd who sure loves riding around in the Porsche more than he ever did in the 8. The Porsche has more useable power around town. When flogged HARD, the 8 was faster, but the Porsche moves more effortlessly. The comfort is great and it is impressive to drive a "status symbol" in the business I'm in. This SUV is for the sports car guys who HAD to get an SUV for some reason or another. Don't attempt to ascertain my life and my needs and tell me what sort of vehicle I should be driving. The vehicles I have fit my life and my needs. I'm comfortable in my own skin and I don't need a "delivery van," nor do I have to justify anything to anyone on this board.

I was simply pointing out one nice convenience of having an SUV. So please, save me your sarcasm.

I loved the RX-8, and rotaries will always have a special place in my heart, but the new rig is quickly making me forget the 8. Parking sensors make it just as easy around town, and it gets the same if not BETTER mpg than the 8, no matter how it's driven. To get power out of the 8 I would be getting 12 mpg.

This is why I still have an S2K in the stable. Some of you guys really need to lighten up. I sense alot of hate and jealousy in this thread. Back when I first joined the board the overall level of intelligence and maturity was great, but in the past few months has taken a steep decline. I sense alot more 16-20 year olds on this site as of late.

Amen to that. I'm 16, and I completely understand that. Good luck with the Porsche man. I will have my 911 turbo someday!

Same reason I've been posting less. Tough to enjoy yourself when people constantly find something absurd to bitch about. At least the local folks are a cool bunch.

P.S. - I'll probably have a car-like SUV once I get myself a hound. Gotta take em' out on adventures with the people! Maybe even out for a burger run! Plus, the extra room would be nice to have for dragging some crap home without having to pester anyone else.

Well that's nothin'. I just traded in my 8 for this bad boy. The CAT 769C. Gets about the same mpg's as the 8. No flooding issues. And damn lots of cargo space. I've already been to Lowes and Walmart, picked up my dry cleaning, bought a new boat and took the neighborhood for a joy ride and hell the bed isn't even ¼ full yet! Pier 1 here I come!

Boy I love this thing. Parrallel parking can be tricky but most people just get the hell outta my way and leave me plenty of room. How nice of them. Except for that Civic that's still stuck in the tire tread. Oh well it'll fly off once I get going. I strongly suggest considering the trade folks. It's well worth it IMO.

Ah, Tiggerlee, it's cute how you try and keep your trucks "sporty," I've decided that if I'm going to get a truck, I'm going to get a TRUCK! No screwing around trying to pretend it's a sports car!

I've been really looking at the cross-over segment myself... I'm on my third and last Explorer and pretty much done with the truck-based SUV's. I love the Infiniti FX and BMW X5, but neither seat 7 (required for my 3 kids and their friends). The SUV I'm close to pulling the trigger on is the Cadillac SRX - 320hp V8, 0-60 just a little slower than the RX8, and handles great. I really didn't want to buy a GM, but the caddy looks like it's built better than the usual GM crap.

yea you should have been in tampa. rhawbs starter sounds fast, for some odd reason he would not shut the car off for 5 min after the demonstration.

Yeah, I've just recently started coming to terms with the fact that I might need something a bit larger simply from a convenience standpoint as I get older. I REALLY don't like big trucks that drive like...well, big trucks. I'd much rather have a quick, relatively fun SUV that will still haul my dog and my other crap whenever I need it. Maybe I'll look into going with a small car again some time down the road, but right now, a small SUV is looking like an increasingly good idea - as much as I hate to admit that.
