Ideal Endlink Position
Ideal Endlink Position
So one thing has been bugging me a bit but I never really had the time to play around and investigate further. What exactly is the most ideal endlink "bolt" position? I installed my sways and endlinks about a month ago, and although they have been a huge improvement over stock, and have helped the alignment of my sway bars now that the car is lowered, I am feeling that I may need to tinker a bit more.
Based on the images provided by EVO-r, one can conclude that the best (if you havn't done so already) alignment of the sway is to be parallel to the ground)

I have done my best to acomplish this, but I cant say that I am exactly parallel, and I am not sure if it is because the aftermarket endlinks are still a bit too long for my rear end, or because I havn't really adjusted the endlinks properly.
Looking at this picture, you can see that the "bolts" coming out of the endlink heads is, to a degree, parallel to the ground as well:

Would this be the optimal / recommended position for the bolts? What are the effects if the bolts are not parallel to the ground? I will have to check, but if i remember correctly from my install, my bolts may be angled a little bit. I know that people use allen keys to help pull the bolt more parallel, but i think this may move the sway bar out of alignment a bit. Thoughts?
Not sure if you guys can tell from the images in this thread https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=3756144

Ideally the sway arm should be roughly parallel to the ground on our car...and it is important that they don't rub or bind on anything...other than that..all it does is tie the two ends of the bar to the lower control arms
Shortened Rear Swaybar Endlinks
I checked my swaybar endlinks, and the front seems fine: about 90deg from bar to endlink.
However, I decided the rear endlinks were way too long with my suspension at 13 1/2 inches from center hub to fender, and my suspension is stock.
So, I went to my friends machine shop, and took 1 5/8's inch out of both rears, and pinned them.
The rear swaybar is now noticably stiffer like it just now has a swaybar.
Many people have broken rear links, and the adjustable links on the market are not short enough. I've tracked the car since then, and even spun 360deg by using slicker tires on the rear to see if I could get oversteer.
The rear is tight and doesn't bang anymore.

I think this gets you to the endlink pics.
