This is what I got from what the guy said: "We the devolopers of COD4 go through the same difficulties as our war fighters in Iraq sitting in front of the Blue Tube... that means monitor."

The kind of screwed up the rx8.
Go in a low gear, lets say 1st or 2nd gear, then floor it at around 2k rpm. The car doesn't go THAT slow. It's barely moving too.
If you look at the PP thing when you can modify the rx8, it shows the torque curve as being linear, it's not, its very flat.
No wonder you have to try so hard to drift in this car.

I think the torque curve on the tuning screen is fairly generic in GT5:P, keep in mind that this is not the full game, they probably didn't take the time to model each car for tuning at that point. Note that some features aren't implemented on the tuning screen. I assume that it's a quick and dirty implementation that will be very different in the full game.
I don't know what you guys are talking about with the 8 being unrealistic. The main thing that sold me on GT5 is how accurately the 8 is modeled in GT5:P. It drives pretty much just like my car. I cleared classes C and B using nothing but the 8 when given a choice, and it was easy, because I could corner at such high speeds. It handles like an 8 should, IMHO.

What an absolutely amazing looking game. The screenshots I've seen so far have been so realistic that I've been fooled on more than one occassion. Everytime they come out with a new edition I can't believe that they were able to improve on the last!

GT5 is pretty good as console racing goes. rFactor is a magnitude better on an up to date PC. Thats probably why most of the F1 teams use rFactor Pro for driver training before each race.
I've got a pretty good mod developed for the RX8 for rFactor. I think there is one for GTR2 also. With GTR2 selling for about $10 and rFactor pinching $40 I'm not sure why anyone with a decent PC would bother buying a game console racing game.

lol i remember the first one that came out that it fooled me till you start playing it, then it starts to look fake and the sounds suck, same with this new one
the one thing that i really really really dont like about racing games is that it feeeeeeeeels soooooooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww when your driving, burnout makes it feel the right way

Disagree with most of the things you said, but you are right with the perception and the speed. Burnout 3 was really good at showing how fast a vehicle goes. If it looked that fast, then I guess more people would get a better feel for the game.
