strange, i can slide it at low speeds. maybe its the user (jk)

here is dailydriver2k5 drifting an rx8 at low speed corners. all those corners are low speed corners on the track.

This makes me remember a ad from Forza.
do you guys remember that ad where the page actually had a burnt rubber scent!?!?

The quote was something like
"So real the only thing missing is smell"

i see, then my next question would be, do you have Traction control , driving aid etc turned off?

i dotn know how the thing i mention makes the car react. because i have all aids turned off. quite curious though, think ill try them on when i geth ome.

never mind, i remember its impossibble to make the car slide if Traction is turned on. you most likely have it turned off.

It's pretty damn good with the Logitech driving force pro wheel designed to go with it. Let's you do things like slip the clutch.

I will not be buying any more sony products though so I'll have to make do with driving a real RX-8.

Thanks for showing those pics, I was just about to link to that thread, great minds think alike! LOL!

Yeah NYCgps , your aids must be off or something, check them again.

But back on topic, thanks for that video dynamho! It really shows how GT5 is so darn close to real life. I don't know about you guys , but I WANT THAT PS3 with the engine cover on it! That is hot!

Are you playing the same game GT5 Pro as we do? Even the interior shot of the Rx8 is modeled correctly...

here is a pic of the s2k exterior. shows that my rpm can reach 9. well actually its not 9, but it lets me get 8.5

here is a pic of me dropping down a gear to initiate the drift . my rpms drop

and this is the pic where i feather the gas so i wont redline at 8.5.

Without the G-forces, it's easy to believe one is going slow in GT5 when in fact one may be cornering a hairpin at close to 60mph. 60mph feels like crawling after blazing at 120mph. 60mph during a hairpin will slide almost any car without TCS and race rubbers.

I find GT5 to be very close.
I practice car control in the cone slaloms in GT4 to improve my autocrossing.

The Rx-8 is so sucky at cornering in that game. It's so damn inferior to its rival cars that it's not even funny. Just thinking about hitting the throttle during a corner makes it spin out. Generally the game is fairly realistic but the Rx-8 feels nothing like in real life.

Are you sure your driving the car right? Properly braking before corners and feathering the gas on tight turns? When I drive it , I have no problem feeling one with the RX-8 in the game, I can run some pretty good lap times with it.

The RX-8 is one of the easiest cars in the game to drive fast IMO.

if i may ask, waht mode to you play in, do you play Manual box gear, and pro. i am quite curious. actually no worries, ill check it out tonight because i could of sworn it redlines at actual rl redline. reason i say this, because when i use that car to drift, i always keep my revs up between 8-9.

here is a pic of the RX8 exterior. just like the RL model, the 8.5-9k Rp is lightly shaded. you can get to nine in GT5 p, beacause i do it all the time. i am not saying that i dont believe you, but first you said it didnt get past 7.5 now its 8.5k when i know that it redlines at 9. i am not trying to prove you wrong, but i just know what the car can do. i drift that car alot and play in interior mode only and drifting the 8 i must keep my revs up high due to no torque.

and if you look at the bottom right hand corner, you will see this person still has some more room before hitting the redline. and if you look at the needle he has past the 8.5k mark.

i agree with daily. rx8 is the easiest car besides S2k, rsx, new GTR, STI and EVO 's to drive in that game. i am not sure how ppl are having a hard time with the 8. i use to have a a hard time drifting the 8 due to car having no torque (have to keep my revs up). its pretty impossisble to lose control in that car. so i am confused how ppl are having problems with it. not downing any one gaming skills, since its just a game. but rx8 handles like the real thing.

when i think about it, i think the reason why me and daily think the rx8 car is so easy to drive. is because we play drift mode alot. which our tires are the crappiest tires use. which is normal 1-3 (no grip at all, i use normal 1 and 2) so when we race, and we lose the rear, correcting is easy for us, since we are so use to playing with cars with no grip tires. 99.9 % of the time, if i feel my rear is losing control, i just gas it hard correct with an counter steer. plus we play in Manual mode. if your playing in auto mode, then i can see where the gears keep switching to higher gears etc, where in manual we can keep in the gear we want for turns. but that is the only thing i can think of.

True.

Perhaps Polyphony Digital has become lazy on laurels.

They seem to be focusing a lot of energy on PR and ancillary promotional branching, like sponsorships, shows, etc. All good, but not at the expense of core business.
