I haven't watched yet, but you can shift without using the clutch in our car as well. I've done it a couple times, but I'm can never get it as smooth as with using the clutch. It pops out of gear with ease as soon as you let off the throttle but it's a bit more difficult timing wise to get back in gear.

and edit for after watching... It's a sequential gearbox and only needs clutch on down shifts.

here's a decent explanation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequent...l_transmission

That's call DOT gear
You will need the clutch for down shift

up/push is down shift, down/pull us up shift
Because the gear gap is huge(due to high HP and need biggie and stronger gears),
you just need to pull the gear to up shift without punching the clutch

But that tranny sounds even louder than the engine tho =_=

Take a good look of the video, only use the clutch for down shifting

The DOT gear is so popular now, cost a lot less compare to the tiptronic one's
The RX-8 in Rolax, they use tiptronic tranny, it cost over $10k each
