Help help rx7

Before i start HAPPY NEW YEAR .... MORE POWER TO ALL RX OWNERS

Im back now i need someone to help me out.... Im fixing a RX7 right now. i tried to diagnose it but the problem my scanner can't read it just found out it's 97 model using old/ original 17 pins. also i found out beside said oins there another pins it's eight pins.

How can i diagnose this thing? actually i felt so bad and so dissappointeted when the told me he paid to much before from other shop. The shop charge him too much and he said he can make his twin turbo RX
7 very fast, etc.

here's the FF i found what they before.........

they opened the whole engine so they can can adjust everything BLa..bla.... to make it strong

now the problem the RX had very very rough idle, so rich gas smell, and cant accelerate

what can i do or any idea can share what are the problem, etc??

HAPPY NEW YEAR thanks...........

We didn't have an RX-7 in the US after 1995 so what may be on the car that you are working on may not be and probably isn't the same as the cars we had.

What all has been done to the car? Can you list the symptoms a bit better? Is it flooding? Does it have a standalone ecu? Are the plug wires hooked up correctly? Is the ignition system working properly? Is there good fuel pressure? Is there a leaking fuel injector?

You get the idea. List all you know about it and then tell us what you've checked so far.

the main problem before i touch this car there's already someone tried to tuned it. the owner told me he wanted to increase the horse power so....

> first he told me the past mechanic touched the engine opened the whole engine, mechanic said he can adjust the rotary/ etc <inner parts> so it can increase hp.... so i was shocked make me wrong for me i dont believe you have to open /calibrate inner parts of wankel engine i believe it's already designed for power, so the only way to increase more power bigger turbo, racing box, filters, etc

> symptoms- idle are rough, exhaust are to rich, every time you drive it there's no reaction

> consume gas too much

>imagine V8 old school camaro sounds like that and the body shakes <when the car is in neutral only/ park only>

Hope this one i can fix it soon actually they're were four groups so once i fixed this one others to follow

Sounds like the motor was ported. What kind of porting, who knows. But from the what you are saying about the idle & fuel, sounds like a bridgeport. Unless you can get more info from the owner or mechanic, it will be hard to help you.

Have you worked on a Rotary car before, or is this your first?

This will help you with porting knowledge...

http://www.mazdarotary.net/porting.htm

It's VERY possible to port while being very good at giving additional HP.

there is always blue printing the engine =O What do you mean by rough idle? does it go up and down alot? are the spark plugs changed? also, you should do a compression check on the engine.

yes but honestly speaking i never tried to open it. i believe don't have to open it, not like other engines with pistons and head cylinder i used to open it to add more HP, usually i only upgrade turbo and programmable box.

i believe rotary have nothing to do inside if there some can do maybe you can give me some tips.

By the is it true there's no pistons on it???

It really sounds like a tuning issue. Find a competent rotary tuner and see what they can do with it. Don't just assume it's an engine issue.

Rotary engine.....NO PISTONS.
ROTARTY ENGINE INFORMATION=CLICK RIGHT HERE

First off,I can understand being a newb.....but research things before you buy or work on them in haste as it will save you headaches in life.

Next,
Do you have a RHD RX7 that was imported to the USA or are you overseas? The reason I ask is there is not a USDM RX7 after the 1995 model year. Just curious?

Now to find a fix for your problem, you are on the right track by asking questions, but you are gonna be like the old saying
"There are many ways to part a fool and his money" and you are gonna probably find out how much money after this because you didn't get good information before making a decision on the car to service the car.

So if I come across as a jerk.....I am not worried.....as you put it I am being frank/blunt/brutally honest.

EDIT: I just read the FAIL THREAD fully....You should not try to work on this car...take it to someone that knows rotaries if not you might be putting in a new engine for your customer.
