I think the few reviewers who got their hands on the 2010 GT-R stated that their tests got 3.7-3.9 0-60s. The new launch control drops the hammer at a lower RPM than before (hence no more transmissions blowing up).

I'd imagine, with the upgrades. Stock HP was what, 480 or so? Even with the sneaky Nissan engineering that probably produces 500+ HP, the one you rode on was brought up to 600HP =x

Also, the 09 GT-R's 0-60 ranges from 3.2-3.6 seconds.

it has more than double the power of our poor 8 and it weights 3800 lbs. I wouldn't call that "fat" IMO.

and for the twisties ... it will pwn us too. trust me.

in Asia, they have been doing 600+ hp for a long *** time.

the biggest problem is how to get rid of the heat from the transmission. its way too close to the exhaust pipes. some aftermarket parts came out, its a Front mount tranny oil cooler.

couple more problems, one is GT-R's stock tranny fluid is not good enough.
front LSD has only like what, a cup of fluid in it ?!
and a few others ...

Yeah, but for the cost, I can take an Evo9 up the boost, and destroy it every which way but loose.

In the Twisties, its all computers, in which case. EVO X. I'm fairly certain they are breaking 600 HP by now.

Power to weight... Similar costing Vettes, make more power, at 600 less lbs.

Heck, the G37X Coupe uses the same crappy trans (sans launch control), I could just twin turbo that, make 800+ HP easily and destroy GTRs... the GTR ETR. hmm I like that.

Im not knocking you at all bro, I just think that the GTR is an overpriced, overweight overhyped supercomputer on 4 wheels

sadly, the Auto only feature is the least of my gripes.

Its like a guy at Nissan said we want a Muscle car. I can picture the conversation now.

Guy1: We need a better muscle car
Guy2: what about the Z?
Guy1: Nah, lets make that Sportier, lighter, handle better, and make something else and make it fast
Guy2: Ok. How about the old Skyline GTRs, those used to be fast?
Guy1: meh, but they were awesome sports cars. No sports car this time. Just speed... we could use the name though.
Guy2. Lets Bore out the Z engine and slap some turbos on it and call it a day. That will beat mustangs for sure.
Guy1: All Done. 2 tons, 2 turbos,2 differentials, its a winner.
Guy2: but this car handles like crap, its so damn fat.
Guy1: Thats cool, lets just get some computers to control it
Guy2: Like a Mustang with a brain.
Guy1: Thats right... a Mustang with a Brain.

GTR... a Mustang with a Brain.

I do not agree. While the potential for the evo is obviously well well known, its awd system is completely different. Evo's are designed to slightly more front wheel power than rear while gtr's will retain more power to the rear (so do sti's for that matter, though a different argument.) Also the 4 wheel steering is a HUGE reason why the gtr turns the way it turns. Even if you say "put $10,000 into an evo" it is still speculation.

Ok, for the Evo9... sure,
As for the X, I refer you to their SAWC (Super All Wheel Control)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_S-AWC
Specifically the yaw Control which regulates which side of the car the majority of the torque goes to. Similar to how tanks work, minus the opposing side moving in reverse, etc.
Much better system IMHO.

Thats the best version of Mitsubishi' Evo, vs the GTR. If you notice in the slalom it seemed like he had to work harder to keep it weight under control, even while admitting it had more grip.
and in the G-test. barely more grip.

One pulled into a parking space outside a store I was in today. The frumpiest fellow came out of it. Must have been a frumpy 60ish. I guess the only people who can afford it.

I seen one with my girl about 3 weeks ago driving around lexington and nearly crashed trying to get my phone out to take a picture. Of course she was screaming at me wondering why I was getting so excited over a stupid car because mine is "cuter" anyways lol.

I saw two in NYC last sunday, a black one in the morning, and a white one at night.

I think I pissed the white one off, because I was in front of it, and was arguing with my friends about whether it was a GT-R or not (they couldn't see it properly). After the road went split into a two lane, it went VROOOOM off =\

First of all, automated manual isn't the same as automatic, and trust me, I prefer a manual gearbox as well, but this is a battle we purists just won't win, as technology keeps advancing.

Second, yes you can make an Evo go as fast as the GTR, on the drag strip, on a road course, all that, for less than the GTR's MSRP. But to say that means GTR is overpriced is simply irresponsible.

You've got to look at the details, and sweat it too when you are talking about the GTR. It's able to corner at as high of a speed as an EVO maintaining just as much grip while weighing more, is very impressive.

The reason the GTR weighs more than other cars in the class is they didn't skimp on the luxuries. And I know most of the folks on this board probably don't mind, as we own a 30,000 dollar sports car, but we can't speak for the folks that are in the market for a 70,000+ dollar sport/super car. I know if I was taking out clients on a business lunch, I would rather pick them up in a new Chevy Malibu than a Lancer Evolution.

Cars sometimes just isn't about the figures and numbers, it's about the whole package.

But yeah, you go ahead and spend that money on a Lancer Evo and create a GTR killer, while the general public will be drooling at the GTR parked next to the Evo and wonder why that 4 door econobox has a gigantic wing and need race gas just to move about town.

And I personally think the GTR is a bargain consider what it offers right out of the box. I also think the Corvette ZR1 is a bargain as well. Sometimes bargain simply means what you get for what you paid for.

i like the gtr but i think its too big for a skyline plus i like the older one better and im sure alot of people do ... and as for the automated manual yes i know its a double clutch and as technology advances they show up more and more BUT the zr1 still has a six speed so does the evo so why couldnt the gtr?
