I've never been a Nissan fan, and have always been critical of the car. But I say good for them and am looking forward to seeing them on the streets of Chicago this summer.

Well being a R34 owner i was sceptical at 1st about the new GTR lineage...but from the looks of it the famous 3 letters are going to keep its heritage...one thing i was happy about was the dropping of the 'Skyline' part in its name..way to go nissan!

The Nissan GT-R is just a monster and will be a legend. Just no other way around that.

However, the car is HUGE and lacks visual sophistication. That is it's true down side and the only thing that I see that hurts this car. I could never see James Bond getting out of a Nissan GT-R, for example.

The Nissan GT-R is like an Evo boy racer fantasy come true. It is like their next step, once they get more money.

Its pretty hard to crack GT-R's ECU.

Nissan put very strict restrictions on it, u cant even touch some simple stuff like Suspension. if u change it, the ECU will lock itself up right away and there is nothing u can do.

Mine's Japan has *cracked* most of the ECU, however. Up the boost from 0.8 to 1.0 Bar, result is 530ps, But u need their high flow filter, Super Cat II, and exhaust.

Amuse Japan tried a prototype Exhaust on GT-R, just the Exhaust alone, no other mods, can get 22.2 ps. but The ECU made the fuel mixture even *Richer* than stock. So if they figure out how to lean it, expect more power.

Lets just see how long does it take for Cobb to come up with their own version.

Nissan Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura on the GT-R:
- "beautiful is not the comment I am expecting."
- "For cars, especially sports cars, the expressions of style are frequently based on organic beauty based on nature, such as animals and human. On the contrary, the GT-R sought for its design inspiration from inorganic and artificial things."
- "Though it may look rough, actually, everything up to the last details has been fine-tuned with for rich emotion to strike a balance."

I know you won't be able to get a GT-R for MSRP now or even ever, but you can't really get a ZO6 for MSRP now either, so I call it a wash.

It will be interesting to see how the tuner world embraces the GT-R. Of course it's badass and fast, but it's roughly $40,000+ markup more expensive than the most popular tuner cars (Evo's and STI's) and it's new computer-controlled gearbox will surely gum things up. Can't wait to see how it all plays out, tho.
Actually a lot of dealers are selling Z06's for up to $10,000 off.

really now? Name the dealers.. Ill go put them on my lot for 4000 over msrp.

Thats complete bs, you can buy a 07 Vette for 10,000 off, but its going to be a color combo or something that was undesirable.

Then go ahead and sell your Z06's for $4,000 over invoice. These are just examples of Z06's with huge savings. There are a ton more that are selling for MSRP or a bit below.

---EVS Chevrolet---
NEW 2008 Z06 CORVETTE SPECIAL
2LZ SILVER
TITANIUM ACCENTS
CHROME WHEELS
NAVIGATION

50 state emissions Corvette!
MSRP $78,915

EVS SALE on this one $68,915!

---EVS Chevrolet---
NEW 2008 2LZ PKG
VICTORY RED/ EBONY INTERIOR
QL9 - HIGH POLISHED WHEELS
BOSE 6 DICS CD, ON STAR, XM RADIO, HEATED SEATS, MEMORY, POWER STEERING COLUMN!
MSRP $76,665
SAVE $10,000 ON THIS ONE FOLKS!
GMS $66,665 plus $199 doc fee

---Les Stanford Chevrolet---
I have a Black/Ebony 2LZ Z06 in stock at $8200.00 off. MSRP $75170.00
Forum Price $66970.00

I personally don't think that silver, black, and red are 'undesirable colors'.

Even my local chevrolet dealer would have let me have their brand new Victory Red Z06 2008 for $65,000. If you deal with dealerships that don't suck, you will get great deals. My 2007 C6 was only $39,000....my 2008 C6 is $40,000.

Here is another one I found, that is $6500 off

Nissan has not just raised the bar. They've elevated it so high so suddenly that they've managed to destroy many years of R&D of nearly every other manufacturer.

Okay, make that every other manufacturer, period.

Simply amazing.

Oh lord, that was a burn. That was ownage.

With the Nissan GTR posting those stats, I expect pricing for Corvettes to be very competitive. The cheaper Corvettes will make it hard on the Nissan GTR.

The silver Corvettes look nice. Now if they could pull off 4 seats, they could take another pot shot at the Nissan GTR.

welll im just telling you up here we presell z06's and they go for 5 or 6 over sticker.

the dealer you are qouting is a hugeeeeeee z06 dealer. and about one of the 3 that probably can sell a z06 that cheap because they have about 15 others.

if 100 zr1's are allocated on realease that dealer is going to get atleast 10

thats a pretty huge number.

but i stand corrected there are dealers out there that will sell them for that cheap

New time. FWIW. GT-R supposedly crushes everything in Nurburgring except the Pagani Zonda.

... is this the spec V or the regular GT-R? This dosnt sound right, I highly doubt the regular GT-R can beat the Covette SS by over 10 seconds (7:40s+)... this has to be spec V they are talking about

*edit.. damn.. it really is the regular one..

They allude it to be stock GT-R, since they mention that Nissan was frustrated by wet conditions during their previous run of 7:38, but still not clear...

i just found the auto blog article, it is indeed the regular GT-R not spec V
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/g...-down-to-7-29/
When the 193-MPH Nissan GT-R set a lap time of 7:38 last year at the 'Ring, besting cars like the Porsche GT3, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Mercedes SLR, the Nissan team was disappointed. There were two damp corners on the track, and everyone was quite sure that the car, piloted by official test driver Tochio Suzuki, could go faster.

Now it has. With a completely dry track, the base model Godzilla-san wearing stock Japanese-market tires shaved 9 seconds off its previous best time, posting a lap time of 7:29. On that same lap, it leapfrogged the Porsche GT2, Koenigsegg, and SLR 722 GT. Now it's flashing its headlights at the Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, both about one second up the road. So if the standard model on stock tires does 7:29, and the more powerful, lighter GT-R V-Spec has already been casually clocked at 7:25 -- betting on what the GT-R's ultimate best lap time will be begins now... And did we say it can all be yours for $70,000? Damn. Check out Nissan's official presser after the jump and our First Drive of the 2009 Nissan GT-R by clicking here.
