Gran Tourismo 5 Prolouge Spec III ?

I just saw this yesterday.... http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/...iii/index.html

What is going on?
I wish Sony just give us the game already instead of teasing us with these little updates to a glorified demo.

Supposedly, the plan is to keep updating this game as the real deal is pushed well into 2009. The 3 cars pictured are already available w/ the last update but what is the 4th car?. At least add the ability to buy parts in this version and I won't mind waiting a little longer. GT is not GT w/ out the ability to buy different upgrades for different cars. And how about throw the full Nürburgring Nordschleife track in one of the updates.

This "glorified demo" is a lot better than most "real deal" softwares out there.
I don't understand milking the $'s part. The update and the new cars are free to download.

im quite confused. the last 3 cars they made avail to customers are free. so if free content = milking, then yes i liked to be milked in this case. also if they do decide to charge for cars, then ill just buy the cars i want. its just like the game rockband, i only buy the songs i want.

as for the glorified demo comment. I am happy with GT5P, it allows me do what i like the most out of the GT series. now for ppl who only like to race only, i can see how it can get boring due to list of track avail. but for a person like me, who just doesnt race, but do other things within the game such as drifting. i find it to be a blast, because each time you do the track, its always feel different.

updated to specIII, either I have gotten significantly better at driving in the time since I've lasted played gt5p, or it is now much easier to beat some of the S class races.

It is milking money because they are making people pay twice for a game. I know I wouldn't buy the prologue if the real deal was coming out any time soon, most specifically this decade. The prologue is fun and all, but I wish they would just come out with the full fledged game already. I think forza 3 is coming out pretty soon and didn't GT4 and Forza 2 release around the same time?

If you want to see it that way then maybe so but IMO the game is clearly worth the 39.99 for most people and IMO makes a lot of 59.99 racing games look like rip-offs. The amount of hours I've spent w/ this game since getting it back in May is incomprehensible and I'm now going through the thing again w/ free updates. If the eventually released full game ended up costing $200, i would still get it. But yeah, I want the full game already for the more in depth customization but can be patient knowing more and more content and polish will go into it with the time that passes until its released.

And GT4 (2005) came out years before Forza 2 (2007) did (maybe Forza 1 was at the same time). And I'm willing to bet it will be a long while before Forza 3's released. The amount of data and work that goes into these games is ridiculous.

Graphics and racing wise, GT5 prologue is way better than most racing games. That doesn't change the fact that it has few cars, few tracks, and no parts selection. If you google it, there is a bunch of talk regarding the release of Forza 3 being way sooner than anyone was thinking. What I had read seemed to be reliable. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing prologue. I just wish they would focus on GT5 instead.

well on your milking comment i beg to differ. if you are a gamer who just loves racing sim games, then i dont see how buying GT5 full version even though you bought GT5p is milking. Only way i can see it the way you are , is if the person who is buying the game is a casual type player. then yes i can see how that person will see it as milking. but for ppl like me. that 39.99 is well spent, and ill pay the 59.99 for the full version.

just like the game rockband. if you play the game alot, buying part 2 for more songs isnt milking. but if you are a person just plays it time to time, then i can see why a person would feel like they are being milked.

so it comes down to the person buying tihs game. do they see them selves playing gt5p alot and think 39.99 is worth the price, or just wait for the full version game and just pay the 59.99. and no one is making any one buying the game twice. you either buy it, or you dont.

as for forza 2, it came out last year, GT4 came out 4-5 years ago. forza 3 hasnt even been announced, so i dont see it coming out any time soon, regardless what rumors you heard.

I believe the update raised the PP allowance by 50 points, so your car is more competitive.

I got the update, test drove all three cars, the Lotus is very nice, point and shoot type of driving, a little low on the power, but it makes up for it in the corners.

The Ferrari California is fun, fun, fun! What a great car with awesome balance, power, handeling, and good looks. I took mine, modified it and went racing with it, won twice on the first try against people who were driving the modified cars. I felt comfortable from jump, it was a perfect fit for me....

The Citoreon , well besides the look, the car was almost impossible to handle, the brute power , 1 gear by the way moves this monster with authority! After a few tweaks, I got her to handle better, but definitely not up to racing standards. I hit 185 mph on the Suzuka strait, it gained tremendous speed and wanted to go way beyond that mark. Get into trouble on the corners with the tail coming out, nail the gas , the back end corrects very quickly. Neat concept car, wish it handled better.....

Did any of you notice on the new intro there was a 4th truck with the GT logo on it, i read that the spec III update was suppose to have 4 cars, only 3 were shown, I wonder if they will release the 4th vehicle by unlocking something. Or maybe that 4th truck will reveal the 4th car on the next update.

Saw something about having to put the game on 2 discs (even for DVD format?) because it contains so many cars and tracks. That sounds good and I hope they work on the physics some more because though its not bad, it still seems to trail GT quite a bit. They also need to add a good interior view like GT has and this supposedly takes a lot of man hours for as many cars are in the game. Hopefully (and I doubt it would be) it's not just a polished, rehashed version of Forza 2 with a bunch more cars and tracks added which, if that's the case it wouldn't take long at all to release it. However, if the game is totally revamped and so much more content is added as rumored then it would seem it would take a few years to completely finish the game. So being that Forza 2 just released a year and a half ago, we still more than likely have at least a year left. We may see Forza 3 around the same time GT 5 comes out. Either way I woill get both games regardless of the release dates as I love these types of racing games.
