Those things are terrors, and for the money there's nothing else even close, but you still couldn't get me to buy one because, when I'm stuck in stop-and-go traffic and the turbo's off boost, I'm still driving a Dodge frickin' Neon. Long term reliability is a definite concern.
If Mazda went apesh!t and did this to their 3, then I might have to think about it. But that'll never happen...

The neon is a good value blah blah blah. I have yet to drive one but im sure Its plenty fast and could waste an 8 and a lot of other stuff in a drag race. The main things that kill it are front wheel drive, its ugly exterior, horribly cheap interior (crap transmission), orange peel paint and questionable reliability (don't all cars have this?).
Compare the interior of the srt-4 to the scion Tc or a civic, its all a matter of where you want to put your money.
im just not really into cars where the only thing there is to appreciate is the engine (mustang, camaro...).
At the end of the day its still a lame neon.
If they could put together that package with a car that actually looked good they might have something.

The Dodge SRT-4 rapes in performance, but jonnyb is right. This car has no soul. But hey, you have to give credit to Chrysler for putting out and outstanding FWD sport compact. I wonder why Toyota never had a factory turbo Celica. What did they come out instead? Scion . Oh well. Toyota will sell more cars than Chrysler alone could ever imagine.

I'm sorry everyone. I meant to ask why Toyota didn't have a factory turbo 7th Generation Celica (ZZT23#). I remember the GT-4 from Gran Turismo and SEGA Rally. Cool car, but it looked like a melting popsicle.

Most of us are in a totally different mind frame when it comes to the srt-4. For enthusiasts who want superb performance for a great price, the srt-4 rules. it's not designed to be a refined car. it's meant for one thing, that is to FLY. I am not a fan of the looks of the car either, but if performance is your #1 priority, and your wallet is limited on funds, the srt-4 is clearly a better choice then the rx8, and most any car for that matter. Those of us who own an rx8 obviously didn't have performance as our main goal. For me, I want the rx8 to be more then what it currently is, but the looks and refinement ranked higher then performance, so I chose it. Myperfect car will be a stock rx8 that runs 13s all day, is reliable and long lasting, and doesn't get 15mpg. I guess I better keep dreaming.
