And no one should need a certain car to get a girl. If that's the case, what you need is to get a life.

No doubt whether it's the rx8 or the EVO, the car simply may not be right for a particular individual. The bashing of each is pointless, because they are both great cars in their own right. The same rule applies to the SRT. Believe it or not, there is actually someone at work that thinks my STI is nicer looking then my RX8. Forget the daily driver feel because there are people that can live with cars like EVO and STI, and people who cannot. This person at work, for whatever reason does not care for the looks of the RX8. That is essentially a based opinion, and although I disagree with it, people have their own preferences. He also thinks the EVO is nicer looking then my STI, which I disagree on too, but again, it's their preference. No doubt if you need a car to get a girl, you are lacking in something. Even when I had my VW Golf, it didn't matter, nor change the way I lived my dating life. If any woman likes you for your car, you are just being used, and validating that you do not have a life. For you younger folk who have privelage of owning an rx8 at a young age, and are new to the woman scene, sure the car can help you, but it's not going to mean anything before too long. Later in life you'll realize that it's part of the growing up phase, because the women that view a man by what kind of car he drives are not taking you seriously.

I know 4 or 5 people that feel the same way. I love the looks of the RX-8 but it is a bit garrish and some of the lines are a bit funky to some people.

I can't say I like everything especially any wing on the 8. I like it stock (no appearence pkg) dropped about 1.5". I'm also getting tired of the stock wheels and the altezzas. A set of Volks will do for the wheels but tail lights could use more red in them.

Thats what I thought since the moment I saw the car. That is one of the things that bothers me most about it's appearance.

(for those of you who missed that thread, that's actually a reference to Ike's picture on here...)
Is it possible we could keep this thread on topic?

Anyway, I was unable to test drive one, but I decided without the test drive that it wasn't for me, at least for now. The Evo is an absolutely amazing car but I couldn't get past the insurance rates and the interior, and the fact that my brother is getting one. It might be a future purchase though :p Good luck with your new ride man, I hope you enjoy it. Forget the haters and drive on, tear up the roads in our honor

For me it's the way the rear door window mates with the frame of the door and the rear window. something just doesn't looik quite right IMO.

Man, what is with the f'ing attitudes with a few of us in here? Geeze, lighten up. Speaking about "haters," what about these moderator wannabes trying to restore order where none was lost?

Anyway, STILL on topic, I agree that the Evo and the 8 are two totally different beasts. Except for exceptional handling and the fact that they're both compacts, they're apples and oranges. It's an unfair comparison as far as I am concerned, since the Evo was built and tuned to perform a certain way that the 8 was not. It would make sense, then, that totally different personalities would diverge in their opinions of these two cars.

True Dat!! I always laugh when I hear about how the ladies like Car A over Car B. Hate to tell you there is always a better car, turn your back for two minutes and your "lady" is gonna be with a guy in a M3, S4, Vette, etc... If your using your car to get chicks, you must be a sorry unoriginal person. Reminds me of a guy that we used to always see at one of my local bars. Drove a new Porsche Boxter S, always took two parking spots right out side the front door, had the Porsche hat, and sat at the bar all night by himself looking like a moron and talking abour his car.

I'm sorry if I like reading about what the thread intended, and not a bickering match. There was no attempt to restore order, just asking a simple question, guess I got under your skin, huh? Anyway, I have no problem with you or any member here really, now about the thread. I'm going to agree with Darkman and Ike about wishing it was a coupe(sometimes anyway) and wouldn't mind some non altezza rear lights. Just about everything else, after 10 days of ownership is wonderful. I couldn't be happier

Do the Evo's gauges ever get easier to read? Do you get used to them? It's the only goof I think they made from a driver's point of view: those difficult to see red markings. Love the seats, wheel, shifter (mostly), pedal placement, visibility, traction, power... but hate the gauges.

Saw my first blue on in person over the weekend, BTW. It looked great! Pictures don't do it justice in blue. Black is still my favorite Evo though. It just look so no-nonsense, mean and menacing

The speedometer and tachometer are located in a good place but they are hard to read because they're so damn small. If you want something bigger you might be interested in the Ralliart piece. I've heard from a few people on the EvoM forums that it's much easier to read. It's also a direct bolt-on but I think it's more than $400...

The sports gauges (boost, volts, oil temp) in the bottom DIN are even worse to read. I'm removing them totally and using that DIN to mount a controller for a hard drive based MP3 system called an "Omnifi" I bought last week. Eventually I'll move the boost gauge somehwre when I find discreet place to put it, but I'll probably just cap the voltmeter and oil temperature lines.
