(Most likely the STI) But I'm not.

Either way congrads on your New ride and I hope you enjoy it for longer than a couple of weeks.

I cannot comment on the EVO as a daily driver other then what I have read in magazine reviews, but I must defend the STI as a daily driver. For me personally, it's a better daily driver then my RX8. It absolutely ruled in the snow during this harsh winter, it gets about 3-5 more mpg then the RX8, doesn't burn oil, and has not had one single problem or even a hint of a problem after 15k miles (RX8 has seen dealer 3 times already in 10k miles. The RX8 is smoother and more refined, and is a better ride in daily commute, but it's simply not enough for my needs to be better as an all around car for daily use. As a year round car I have to give the nod to the STI for my particular needs. I have to brag about both cars because they are both great and each serve their own purpose. Time will tell, but the STI seems more durable long term, and my only reason why I may part with it is because as a daily driver, and hitting traffic, I may decide to turn to an automatic. (hoping and waiting for Subaru to make an automatic car with that kind of power and torque. I suppose a lot of my opinion is based on the fact that the STI is basically a modified economy car, and not a true sports car. Although it lacks the power, the RX8 is my fun summer car I take more pride in detailing and treating like my dream car.
Good luck with the EVO. I hope it's as reliable for you, as my STI is to me. I never could own one as a daily driver or even a fun car, but we are all different, and if makes you happy, more power to ya.

EVO's are a blast to drive, I'll admit and all the guys will love your super fast car...

Personaly, I'll keep my RX-8, as the ladies seem to prefer that refined interior and sexy sheetmetal...

Sure, you don't need a sexy looking, smooth riding car with a refined interior, but you can outrun me anyday, because when you're at the finish line, I'll still have a car full of girls. After all, who cares who wins the race if I still take home the prize...:D

Lancer Evolution VIII MR FQ400 makes 298kW @ 6800rpm and 481Nm @ 5000rpm, and will hit 100km/h from rest in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of just over 280km/h all from a 2.0L engine
Its got Alcon Mono6 brake kit (incorporating Monobloc 6 piston calipers with 343mm curved vein discs with Ferodo DS2500 brake pads)

A little Bogey up in here...

I know that the lives of two forum posters don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world 'Rexateher', but if that RX-8 leaves and you're not in it... you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but you'll regret it...

Just a little nostalgia to try and water your eyes to make sure you miss it enough... have fun with the ticket-o-meter...

Thanks. Mitsubishi upped the HP/TQ ratings on the '05 Evo VIII model by I believe 6hp and 12tq...but the dynos are showing between a 5% and 8% increase in power over the '03 and '04 models.

I gotta laugh at the people calling an Evo a "ticket-o-meter" or a poor daily driver. For one, it's not hard to drive the speed limit if you want to. Secondly you can make it a habit to get lots of tickets in any kind and every kind of car. All in all a very lame slam of the Evo. It's sorta like the morons who blame McDonalds for being fat. Nobody forced your fat *** to eat hamburgers everyday, just like nobody forced you to put the pedal to the medal.

The poor daily driver part is equally as stupid. I've spent many miles both behind the wheel and in the passenger's seat of an old coworkers '04 manual RX-8. The difference in ride comfort between the RX-8 and Evo is microscopic. At freeway speeds it feels like the same ride. We're talking the difference between diet Coke and diet Sprite...not a Cadillac and Lotus. Methinks it's a way of validating your own purchase, because it's a totally baseless claim if you'de spent any significant time behind the wheel of either car. Gotta love how the natives slam "other" car threads. Defensive is the word that comes to mind.

my roomate has an evo and its rediculously fast. i'd say its more hardcore than the 8. he loves the power but hates the ride...on bad roads it can give you sore kidneys....the interior is pretty weak too.

....you gotta swap the rear badges for the UK "evolution viii." makes a substantial difference

EVO's just not the right car for me, but if it works for you that's great. Have fun with it.

And no one should need a certain car to get a girl. If that's the case, what you need is to get a life.

The difference felt a bit more than "microscopic" to me, but still, the Evo's ride seemed fine as a daily driver. I'd call the 8 "supple," and the Evo "controlled." They feel different in character, rather than simply degrees of harshness.

The hyper-sensitive steering concerned me more. It's amusing and fun when playing, but trying to track straight down a long highway is tedious. Maybe you get used to it, but sneezing in an Evo can be deadly.

I'll give you that. I forgot about the uber-quick steering rack. Yeah I leaned over to grab a CD off my passenger seat on Saturday...took my eyes off the road only for a second...and when I popped my head back up I had moved over a lane. Ooops.
