I like the changes I'm seeing in some of these company line-ups. If I recall correctly, ford was considering a twin-turbo V6 mustang... I would actually consider that, while I have no interest in the current V6 or GT.

another thing i like about ford is that they arent looking for government money to get them out of this mess. They are using the free market and making their own decisions for their own future success.
GM in the other hand will end up like the banking industry, having uncle sam making the big decisions for the company. (at least until GM pays all that money back) which could mean no SS camaro!! and whats going to happen with the corvette?
dare i say hybrid corvette?

I honestly believe Chevy would not ax there SS Camaro, just like there not ax'ing the Z-06 or the ZR-1 anytime soon. What I can see them doing is releasing a small volume of SS Camaro's to the public to save cost instead of axing the "SS" badge all together.
The reason i strongly feel this way, Chevy just sent me there press release package of the limited edition C6-R championship Corvette package that will be released this spring of '09. The package is for all the Corvettes except the ZR-1.
600 cars will be released to the public in yellow and black, or black on black paint schemes.
Its in honor of the C6-R dominating the GT1 class in ALMS, 5 time winner of the 24 hours de' lemans, and also this is the last year that the C6-R is running in the GT1 class.

Dude this ain't a "little bump in the road" for GM. This is like a collapsed bridge over a rising river. Once you take into consideration the situation with the UAW that river becomes the Pacific Ocean. It hurts me to say it but I don't think it will ever change at GM. My vote is for economic Darwinism: bankruptcy.

As much as I used to hate Ford, I think they actually are really trying to completely turn things around here lately and could be in a much better position than GM at this point - Mustangs/Camaros aside.
I agree but does the V6 'Stang still out sell the V8 version by a large margin? Like 70% are V6 from what I've seen. From what I understand it's the money maker. I can see Ford easily making a modern 4-banger that would completely blow away the crap V6 that's currently in the base Mustang right now in all aspects but still agree - a muscle car should have muscle. Fords needs to focus its performance development on sporty small cars like the Ford's the Europeans get and still offer a good V8 Mustang for the one's into that sort of thing. Problem is I think so many Mustangs are sold because it's a Mustang regardless of what's under the hood but that fact there is a V8 one probably helps carry those sales.
