gm 24 hour test drive
anyone seen the ads for this yet or done it yet? i'm real curious if it costs anything or if you have to commit to like 2 hours under the salesman firing squad and play 4-square with them. i can just see people taking a 24 hr test drive on some car for their friday night date or something *shrug*

You have to be 99.9% sure you want the car before they even allow you the keys. Its a deal before a deal kind of thing and they also do a credit check right there. Its not like a regular test drive like people think. But a Think it over and through thing. I'll have to ask a person thats a GM dealer for more details.

I don't know the details, but it is a GREAT idea in my book. If not for the fact people fall in love with a brand new car in 24 hours, and they just gotta have it, but even that they may feel they have been treated like royalty by GM and really want to give them their business.
I think GM has a great idea going here.

You guys hear about the CTS-V?
Either 2004 or 2005 GM will release a version of the Caddy CTS with the 'vette engine in it. That's my kind of sedan. :D
I'm sure the handling won't be great with a big V-8 under the hood, but it should still be a lot of fun.

1 week test drive (ddin't get car)
When my wife wanted a Lexus ES300 (thank god I 'persuaded' her towards the G35 and thence to the RX-8) I mentioned we were interested in getting one to my dealership.
The next time I took my RX300 in for a 4-hour service they allowed her to borrow a new ES300 as a loaner for a week - we put over 600 miles on that vehicle. It was the quietest and most plush vehicle I have ever driven under $60k (much more luxurious than an Audi A4). But even my wife agreed it was dull to drive after a day or two - totally insulated you from the driving experience (which is what many people want apparently)...

i'm not saying the 13BREW wasn't too big ('cause it IS, it's a huge freakin' motor with that gawddamned exhaust "unit"/labrynth), but with a single turbo conversion (and stripping the motor to the same extent you would with the LS1 conversion) you could certainly make the horsepower, and probably then-some with the right tune, with a lighter front (or at least equal) end than the V8 converted one...
but, with more hosepower, the V8 guy will say "but then you can port the heads, and do the cam..."
and then i say "then you can port the 13B"
and then he'll say "then you can do blah b;ah blah to the bottom end"
and then i'll say "tear it down and add some revs" likewise
... it goes on and on, there is no clearly "better" solution (in a drag race, you might just be able to pump more cfm with either, depending on the rules), but in keeping loyal to the rotor, i'd bet on the wankel. :D
